I think there are two major advantages to watching a game live and where I sit at the top of the N&P behind the goal backs up one of these points.

1) You get to see the shape of the team a lot better 

2) As already mentioned that you get to see what happens off the ball.

I had a season ticket at West Ham as a kid for a few years and sat on the halfway line and much prefer it behind the goal.  I get to see the shape both teams play and where people are being dragged inside when they should be on the wing (e.g. Hoolahan when moved out to wing does this a lot drifts into a central role leaving big gaps and less cover for the right-back)

If I was a manager I would always have a coach up high in the stands to see this as you cant always from side on.

I agree you get replays on TV and I definitely agree that some people are so blinkered by Yellow and Green that every decision against us is wrong.  I always try and be fair at games and see it from as a neutral fan would (although I do have my moments)

I have been pillaried on here with regards to my opinions of Redmond, Fer and Martin, but from where I sit I got to see first hand how they played, their strengths and weaknesses, what they do off the ball which is sometimes more important than what they do on the ball, and watching on TV  you don't ever see that

Actually agree with all of this quoted bit. 

Have sat in the upper Barclay quite a few times and it does give you a really good perspective on the game, as long as you aren't overdue an eye test - then you can't see bugger all.
