Yes, good read.  Hughton's other major crime, lest we forget, was speaking with respect about the opposition teams we were playing, which was generally considered to be bad form and damaging to our team's morale.  Of course, when Adams was telling the media we should be "beating the likes of Reading", and this ended up in the opposition dressing room, Adams was slated by the same self-appointed experts for firing up the opposition and not showing them enough respect.

I suspect the people who make these observations are generally the same ones you find in a Yates's Wine Lodge at 10:30am on a weekday, explaining "the problems with Britain today" to anyone who will listen.

I can appreciate that Mark, it is long - much longer than intended.

If you got fed up, maybe revisit it and if you read the last 3 paragraphs you'll see where I was going with it before I bored you!!!!

My feelings as well. It's all very glib to make unsubstantiated claims about things and then justify them as 'tongue and cheek', but it doesn't wash with me. Facile would be more appropriate. The last three paragraphs are at least apologetic after the damage is done. Sorry, not for me.

I did worry that this could be misinterpreted and thought long and hard before "putting it out" as it were.

The last three paragraphs are not intended to be apologetic but more a reflection of the reality of what has transpired.

The intention was to try and show just how ridiculous the claims against McNally, Smith, Jones et al are and how preposterous they sound if you take a step back.

Perhaps the piece is ill-judged or irresponsible but at no juncture was I attempting to discredit the people entrusted with the running of our club; more to highlight the idiocy of doing so.

Agree that this is too long, and would benefit from some paragraphs and sentences being deleted.

I think views on this will be influenced by how much threads on this topic on another forum have been followed.

I can recall posting recently on there supporting our majority shareholders but pointing out that I thought they had a big decision to make as to whether Neil Adams was the man to lay the foundations for the future. Can not remember whether it was after the Reading or Preston game. Either way within days they showed they were up to tough decision making!

I was amused by the tongue in cheek nature, if for no other reason that it highlights how quickly views become entrenched and rarely capable of being changed once the "trend" is set.
