All quiet and no announcement

We all know, the club knows and Adams knows, that things cannot go on like this. The standard at the moment is relegation form.

So far there has been no announcement from the club. Posters on another board are demanding  some sort of announcement. 

I don't expect one:

• Adams will have been left with a clear message, that he has acquired the services of Mike Phelan and the club will expect an improvement soon. Players will also have been given a clear message, but so long as they have a collective lack of confidence it is little use condemning them or exhorting them.
• Only loud mouth chairmen publicly condemn managers or players before they need to. Most clubs do not wish to add to the crisis by making it public.
• There may be other factors at work. Does the repeated chorus of "we are a happy squad" really conceal the truth, and in fact there is some dissension in the changing room and  there are some big egos?
• The club have already changed things by bringing in Phelan. They must surely wait and see if there is any resulting improvement, and even size him up as a quickish replacement, and also sound him out.

However important  supporters may express themselves to be, and however expert they feel they are, I can't honestly see the club consulting supporters if nothing improves and Adams is sacked, of if things do improve and it becomes unnecessary to make a pronluncement. How many weeks the new management team is given, I have no idea, but I imagine that after last year's events it will not go beyond Christmas.

I find myself keep checking on google to see if he has gone yet, I have NEVER done that with any previous manager, even under Roeder and CH, and I certainly have better things to do.

Aside of this, what really worries me is the first time we had a chance to see NA and MP "working together" ,the body language was really poor.....surely they would at least make an effort to make it look harmonious, but the opposite happened as some of the shots in the media show.....we're doomed I tell ye, doomed! 

For me, this is now the most worrying time since Gunny took us down, I dont think that will happen this time, BUT......its going to end in tears unless more action, in addition to bringing MP in, is taken very quickly..........I can see it, you can see it......almost everyone can see it..........

Oh well, defeat at Wigan it is then.

A defeat at Wigan and the next game at CR will be one heck of an occasion.   It will sort out the men from the boys and perhaps we will see a reaction from the players - as long as the right team is put out with a combination that looks as if it might work.  I too can't quite believe Adams is still there, only Phelan coming in can have saved him for the moment.   But the writing is still on the wall and two weeks down the line if we are still performing badly and they have to sack him..........there will be a heck of a rumpus because they didn't act sooner.

 

[Watling the Gnome]

An away trip to a club at the bottom end of the table, and with a new manager in, is perhaps the last thing the current management team needs right now.

Maybe not Watling, but perhaps it's the sort of test we need. Like others, I want to see a reaction from the players, who to my mind are at the heart of the problem, not because they are bad players, but just the opposite. Because of this they seem to take the opposition lightly at times and this casualness produces sloppy goals. Reading never looked like scoring apart from those two corners where the marking was too casual and the goals conceded. Neither was down to the management and now we need to see a reaction fron the players with a performance full of intensity and concentration against Wigan.
