Not taking away from the real quality of these goals, but can someone that was at the game answer for me, were we carving out "real" chances? Or was it all shots from outside the box like this? Because there's gonna be some days where these won't go in and we need to be able to bundle in one from half a yard.

For me, we created a few. You can see the basic movement is there, and with Grabben & Lafferty being new, and them trying to employ a new style. A few times Grabben was played in and we cold have had a few more goals with a little more cutting edge.

I think it's a work-in-progress, and a real improvement.

Redmond was always a threat..... to the people behind the goal in the Lower N&P & Lower Barkley. No change there.

My concern is - which is the real City? The one that looked awful away v Wolves, or the fluid, attacking one that demolished a 10 man Watford. Hopefully more answers on Tuesday.

I was getting ready to catch Johnson's from the upper Barclay haha great strike

We did create lots of chances, shooting was a bit off target. A few frustrations for me with balls going into the box only needing a big striker on the end of them, only to find Lafferty hanging out on the wing somewhere. Lafferty did put in an excellent performance playing there so can have no complaints about that. A really good performance, something to build on at last.

           the real point being that last season we just wernt doing this,in fact wouldnt have dreamt of doing it !

I liked what I saw in the pre-season, was a bit disappointed by the Wolves match (which was very much a battle of attrition until the sending off), and then found the Watford match refreshing. The new strikers are still gelling, but the ethos was summed up by Grabban:

“When we get over the halfway line, the manager gives us the freedom to rotate. When we’re more defensive, we have the shape. But in terms of when we go attacking, you can go wherever. If Laffs (Kyle Lafferty) wants to come in the middle, he can and I’ll drift out wide. We just try to rotate and cause problems with our movement. The gaffer asked him to do a job today out there on the wing and I thought he did very well. He created some chances and played with high energy, and you need that in this league. He caused a lot of problems.”

Laffs also laid on the ball to Johnson for the opening goal and Grabban had both his goal and an assist. We're getting there.
