Anyone missing Snodgrass?

The jury was out on Snodgrass, you either loved him or hated him. Personally I appreciated that he had qualities, but I felt those qualities would have been better used in a central number 10 role. Playing on the wind he unbalanced and polarized our attack, slowed it down and made our crosses ineffective. Sometimes his qualities shone through, but just as often the detriment of playing him the way we did shone through too. 

Now he has gone, so too have the arguments about whether he was help or hinderance.

Personally, though he was clearly a good player, I feel we're better off without him. He seems little more than a distant memory now.

Technically a good player but no, I'm not missing him. Slowed play up, had to cut inside onto his left foot and the opposition knew exactly what was going to happen. Not so much of an issue if the quality comes through with good delivery and link up play but this was too often lacking.

Also think pundits exaggerate his quality at set pieces. Free kicks often fortunate, though admittedly some unstoppable, and corners usually disappointing. Always gave 100% and looks like someone really passionate about the game but what I feel we need (and needed last season) is pace and plenty of crosses into the box. I can't see Snodgrass terrifying defenders in the championship in the same way as Redmond has and Murphy shows signs of doing also.

I'd rather have him than not have him, if you're giving me a straight-up choice. But we seem to be doing alright, most would agree.

I wouldn't say I'm missing him, but I'd still like to have him. Reckon he'd have had 3 or 4 goals on top of what we already have by now

I have always rated Snodgrass and still do. Had we sold him cheaply I would be annoyed, but we got a good deal and he wanted to play in the PL. With Grabban, Redmond and EB available on the RW we can afford to be without him.

Indeed, its made up of several parts. Did we sell him on the cheap, did we replace him, do we look a worse team without him?

I would have liked to have kept him, but when you add up all the parts of the sum, it adds up to "No" for me.

I don't think our performances on the pitch are missing him, so for that reason alone I'll go for a No. Of course we never really know how much better we could have been with him. Bet hey ho.

As said above though, I think its Steve Bruce that's missing him the most! A lot of money for Hull to pay out for a player to work the physio's all season. I have no hard feelings though and hope he comes back from it next season as good as ever.

Not missing him, especially as Redders seems to have got the message to take on the fullback! When Snodgrass was here so much of the play was directed through him, and progress down the right was slow.

I really liked Snoddy and felt that he took undue stick from some fans but it was totally the right thing to do to sell him at a very good price and I suspect that the team is probably better balanced for him not being here.

I don't really miss him.  He was creative at times, but easily shut down by teams that knew he only liked using his left.  At his best he provided that spark the team needed, but that spark was too few and far between.  Plus having the midfield we have now is making Snodgrass an afterthought even sooner than probably most expected.

I think at best he was enthusiastic and hard working but I believe his skill levels were slightly overrated. He had no pace to speak of so as others have rightly pointed out, he slowed the game down. Admittedly he was up against Premier league defenders so its unfair to compare his contribution with anything from this season.

As one of his fiercest critics, I certainly don't miss him.  He made himself the main man and as such had an unbalanced effect on the team, from that penalty to every free kick/corner/slowing down of play.    Hughton was partially responsible for not being stronger towards sorting it  out, but I have always said that players have to take some of the blame - and for all the good things he did - his goals, chiefly - his overall contribution imo was negative to the team play.    Huff and puff, lots of complaining, heart on sleeve, but apart from his goals, precious little of useful team play.   Lip service to tracking back, falling over when cornered rather than releasing the ball early before getting into trouble,  slowing down play, delaying crosses interminably, wasting energy through complaining all the time.  

I sensed a breath of fresh air when he was sold, knowing I wouldn't have to watch the same nullification of our attacking play by a player who didn't appear to learn from his mistakes, time and time again.  I hope he does well at another club because he is a trier, but am pleased he has moved on - especially for the money we got for him.  Overated and selfish imo.  I know I sound harsh, he is responsible for some very good goals, but one player's achievement does not make a successful team.   We lost our talisman last season in Holt,  Snodgrass tried to take on the mantle and failed imo.   As did the team.   We were not a one man team last season and other players take the blame too as does Hughton of course, but Snodgrass takes imo a bigger share of the responsibility than most, simply because at times - a lot of the time - for all his time on the ball, he rarely delivered anything useful for team mates, preferring to go it alone...until it was too late.

Still maintain, had his season been reversed (started as he finished it and finished it as he started) he'd never have been voted Player of the Season.

Can't fault his passion and commitment to the cause but, more often than not, you need more than that to be considered genuine Premiership quality.

Two seasons, 74 appearances, 14 goals, runner up in POTS in his first year, winner in his second as well as being Scotland's international player of the year. You know what? I reckon he'd be having a field day at this level.

Do we miss him? While we're top of the league it's easy to say no and if we go on to win the league we'll have done that without him. I heavily suspect that we'd do even better with him in the side though.

But he's gone.

We got bloody good money for him and he got to continue his career in the Premier League which is the platform he deserves to play on. He's also copped a nasty injury. We might not "miss" him as such but I reckon we can stop knocking him now too!!!

I think I miss pilkington more to be honest, who has stayed fit and has started to play well for Cardiff, but that's because he could play on the left. We are fine on the right with Redmond and Bennett.
