Isnt that the second time we've been said to be rivalling Bologna? (Quintero rumours)  Is this just standard - they're newly promoted, so pluck another similar team (why not the Premiership) out of thin air to make a story out of nothing?

That's about the size of it. David McNally was saying on Saturday that the whole Quintero story was a total fabrication and that we had never been in for him. We've been used in this way about three times now by Italian rumour sites. The problem is that agents want to get bidding wars going so they leak to these sites which will basically run anything and then its on the net, and of course, if its on the net it must be true .....

There are plenty of reports in Italy saying he is having a medical at Bolongna and suspected to be joining them shortly. To be honest I doubt we were really in for him, might have enquired but nothing more I reckon.

This sounds like paint by numbers journalism really. I doubt the football world is really half as exciting as the media make it out to be. When I was a kid I used to continually phone Premium rate phone-numbers to hear the latest (pre-dated the internet - teletext adverts were the closest you got to Norwich trnasfer news) tranfer link. I genuinely believed we were continually on the verge of signing someone special. I remember a chap called Vladen Lukic was linked after we'd sold Sutton (which of course never materialised). The Premium rate phone companies got plenty of money out of my naivity though, and needless to say my Dad wasnt too happy. Still, that wasnt as bad as doing the Sky Fantasy football via phone and Teletext (you'd do your changes by typing the numbers into the phone and it would very slowly change your team on Teletext) - that cost a bomb. Did anyone else ever do that? Would have been late-mid 90's. Din probably has no idea what Im talking about...
