Yes another good read Warren.
With reference to the style of play. I do find that in many ways, and we are not alone in this, we are trying to copy the teams at the very top in English football. We are led to believe that pass, pass, pass and don't risk possession is the way.
But of course, not too many clubs have the personnel capable of doing that. For far too many games, particularly last season. we are "out passed" by teams with more adept personnel. And I don't believe for one moment that players like Redmond, Howson really enjoy this constant side to side play. And I also believe that we started the season believing that if we played that way, our previous experiences in a higher division and our new strike force would see us roll over teams.
But that hasn't happened because in the three years we spent away in the higher echelon, the rest of football had adopted the same style.
I have always felt that, in the past, Norwich has, because we are unable to match the bigger clubs for obvious reasons have adapted and even innovated styles of football that have given it a measure of success. Our yo-yo through the leagues in the last forty years, is far more impressive to me than some clubs who are happy to virtually remain anonymous.
But just at the moment, I don't think we are doing anything else other than imitate and that saddens me considering some of the personnel we have at our disposal.

Really not sure that a point is a platform to build on, as in reality despite the inconsistent season we have had so far, our actually league position right now and points gained is THE platform as we are still only just off the play-off's. The loss of the two points at St.Andrews only shows just how much we continue to under perform and yet despite that we remain in with a chance of a play off spot.
This paragraph sums it up for me:
"It’s all there on record that I was confident that we’d win the league, I thought that we’d simply have too much for most teams. It’s starting to look like I over-estimated our prowess and failed to show our opponents enough respect. The play-offs are still very much within our reach but the top 2 once again looks a long way off. We’ve got to set out to win every game and see where that takes us but at this stage, the play-offs will represent a decent result"

we are all disappointed with our progress against our pre-season expectations but there is little value to continue to compare current results to that. Yes in terms of getting auto promotion its points dropped. But we are not going to win every game until the end of the season.
In the context of a dire performance the week before from a team only on the fringes of the play offs, lacking confidence, learning a new managers new system and 5 player and 8 positional changes a point against one of the current better performers in the league was progress.
There was evidence that the 4141 is being grasped by the players. Seb added some security at the back and tettey had teh discipline missing from BJ last week in playing the deep midfield one. Neither played superbly, but gave the platform to progress again.
There remain numerous downsides. Seb & Tettey spent too much time covering the gap left by Olssons persistent absence, martin, mainly solid, still had a couple of horror lapses continuing doubts of his cb ability; bennett simply had no impact when starting and bennett bj and wes with our star man redmond simply was not able to win back the ball or add any creativity.
Up top Jeromes injury shows how crucial he is to us.
No manager was going to solve all of Brentfords failings in a week - however he made good progress. With Jerome and howson back next week all we can do is kick on and see where our results take us having lost the momentum not in Jan but in Nov & Dec
