Bassong rumour.

This rumour has made it so hard with Bassong's position here, just wish we knew if it were true or not.  Because, it's impossible to a draw a conclusion, and it's not like a minor factor that you can work around either.

Honestly, if he said that i wouldn't think an apology would be enough for me.  If Bassong refuses to go out on loan or be sold, he's within his rights to sit out the contract right?

If he doesn't go this window, and rumour is true i just hope we don't end up releasing him and watch as he takes a bucket load of cash down the road with him as a free agent.  It can't help morale having him around if he truly is sulking still, or there's a breakdown between him and manager.

I suppose it must be that, we might end up with a Becchio situation again though where a loan move or 2 fall through and we're stuck with him until January. If that happens, we might as well try and get some use out of him. It'd be in his interests as well.
No, just leave him in the reserves.

Best for a manager to stick to his guns on this kind of thing and send out a strong message. Freezing out players is unpleasant and should never be done lightly, but it sometimes worth it.

Adams as a new manager needs to send out the message that he is not to be messed with and disrespected - bringing Bassong back into the team gives out the message that its okay to insult me (if this is what happened). Kenny Jackett went to Wolves froze out players who would have dominanted in League One - but it sent out the message that the team is more important than the individual.

It will be hard for Norwich to shift Bassong, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in Qatar or somewhere similar but Adams should go back on his decision, unless the player comes out and makes a humble apology to him and the team.

I like Bassong and it is a shame its come to this, but these things happen in footaball and he certainly won't be the last player to fall out with a manager and lose his place in the team.

I've also heard the same story about Bassong. I've also heard he once said " I hate training, I try to do as little as possible and usually get away with it "

If true - and I kind of suspect it is - then Adams can't afford to just let him back into the team. He's not good enough that he can get away with saying that kind of stuff - you'd have to be head and shoulders the best player in the squad by a country mile and even then it's a tough call for a manager to play someone who has no respect for him.

We do need 4 CB's in my opinion. So we need another.

We won't let Bassong go for nothing because I think he has value to another team. It's a case of negotiating and ensuring we don't unnecessarily lose out on funds. I don't think we need to rush into getting rid of him - just leave him in the ressies.

Couldn't he just apologise?

After all, Hoolihan has come back in to the fold.

Not so sure about that Wiz.

To say that in the first team session with the new interim manager was unforgivable.

He was club captain, we were in a relegation fight and we needed absolute togetherness. He should have been leading - not undermining. His behaviour was arrogant, selfish and unnecessary.

I was already happy to see him go before I heard this. Now I see it as a priority.

Unfortunately nobody else will take him it appears...

I think his crime is bigger than Hoolahan's, and even then it would depend on if he's even willing to apologise. He might be standing by what he said.

If this is true then sell him or leave him to rot training with the youth set up if we can't get a decent amount for him. Shame he will be one of our high earners or we could bench him for the remainder if his contract to make a point that this is not acceptable. But best to get rid of this poor attitude.

Absolutely unforgivable if the rumours are true, but I wouldn't be that surprised to hear they were. I just can't understand that attitude, a year after getting the player of the season trophy, enjoying a good reputation at the club and having been given the captaincy, to say something like that is just mind-boggling. I wish someone would take him off our hands, maybe a year long loan just to get him away from the club.

So if this is all true and if he's not been prepared to do this apology then what is he still doing here? I'm sure someone would take him for nothing at least?
I'm making some wild guesses about Adams' character here, but just from what he says to the media, I get the impression he's quite an analytical thinker and probably wouldn't let personal insult affect his judgement unduly. Freezing Bassong out is all about asserting his authority when challenged. I suspect Adams still thinks he's a decent player though, hence we haven't just palmed him off at a discount price to get shot. Bassong is in contempt of court and will remain in a cell until he apologises to the judge in court. ;-)

As Bethnal said earlier this will go down to the wire. City won't  give him away but everyone knows we  want him out so are hanging on for a cut price swoop at the end of the window.

I don't doubt these rumours at all. Someone I know who is close to the first team told me he rarely ever trained but CH picked him regardless.

Also said he wanted to leave last summer (thinks Norwich is boring) but Hughton convinced him to stay and made him captain.

I may be somewhat deluded or naïve here but I still believe that this situation can be salvaged.

In this division Seb is a class act.

I hope so but I very much doubt it.

Of the current set of players my cb pairing would be Bassong and Bennett.
