Just like my 'beating West Ham' thread on that other site last season.

Will history repeat itself again I wonder?    :coat

Apologies if my thread upsets a few which was never my intention, maybe a mod can pull the plug on it.

No, it's fine, it can stay, people can discuss your point then, if they want to.

We're in 10th place, 5 points off 2nd place and 8 points off the top of the league.  We have just appointed Mike Phelan as first team coach.

However, and at the risk of a moderator slap, I have to say that even allowing for free speech and all that "good stuff", this is a very very silly thread, even allowing for previous standards which we don't need to discuss here.  If you simply want some attention, there are plenty of other message boards on the internet.  Please don't clutter this one with your attention seeking nonsense, as you have previous boards.

Trust me Watling, this thread has a finite life.

In the spirit of freedom of discussion, we shall give Wiz the chance to discuss his point.

Just maybe not for very long.

I'm all for debate on this. One of the reasons this site is doing well. I read the Pink un ( as I have just done before coming here) and the lack of tolerance just because someone says something contraversial or even rubbish in your view, does not mean descending into abuse like it does on there. That's why I never joined. Not 606 is much better but even on that site there were a couple bordering on with the greatest respect , a Pink un mentality to debate.

My work colleague told me today, as she sits next to one of the youth coaches, that Roson had Tettey up against the wall by the throat at half time at Forest. There is absolutely no reason why she would be not saying the truth but I don't know the other person who is alleged to have said it but why even say it? If I put this on the PInk un it would be ridiculed. I have no idea if it's true or not. I have no reason to doubt a fellow academic colleague but am hopefully balanced to say it's nothing more that's an interesting comment you can take whatever way you think. Even heard Lennon wanted to come ( from my mate I go with ) but was not even interviewed. It's all speculation so I just take it as that. The way things are now though it does get you thinking!

As to the origional OP question , I have no issue with it. You just agree to disagree. Personally I think it's more likely we'll be relegated by not sacking him after Forest. There is something not right at the club big time, which is amplified by what happened under Lambert and where we have ended up over the last couple of seasons (and seem to be headed!)

No one did not want Neil to succeed. They make have had doubts but overall it's not working. Look at that selection on Saturday. It just cannot go on IMO. The real problem is the decision making by the board. He should have been sacked after a Forest with a proper manger e.g. Pulis with say Phelan assisting sorted out by Brighton. That's just my opion for you guys to debate. Reading, West Ham are irrelevant , it's the board decision making that is behind where we are now. Not saying sack them but got to get them to get it sorted. Their decision making has arguably cost us massive amounts of income and could potentially cost us even more!

The main point here, surgery, is debate. Wiz used the similar thread on the other site as a "I told you so" every time we lost, and seemed to revel in the abuse that he received. Now, if wants to nail his colours to the mast, state we shall be relegated, and debate the reasons why, then that's fine by me.

But if the thread is just about mischief making, it won't be here long.

Over to you, Wiz.

To be honest Morty, I kind of saw it as poking a bit of fun at himself. I might be wrong.

Relegation is a non-issue, so it's simply wasting time and space, IMO. Lambert's Championship team had exactly the same number of points after 16 games, so he was having problems as well, and his only cup game was a 4-0 loss at home to MK Dons.

It's about form Yellow Fever, Lambert didn't have 1 win in 10. Agree we will not be relegated mind, the quality of our squad will see to that, despite the manager.

Beating anyone is a good thing - even if it means certain events don't then happen that most people would have wanted, like a manager being sacked.   You simply have to accept what happens.   Last season we beat West Ham and that was a good result - so Hughton kept his job (he might have done anyway, we don't really know).   This season we beat Reading and it is three points towards the top of the table.  Whatever happens on the managerial front the three points is vital to the season.

So no, obviously beating Reading won't relegate us - or doom us to mid-table more to the point - and no it won't save Adams either - seeing how our board react, he will probably be here all season anyway.  They probably see it as that they have little alternative but to keep him in.   Tinkering with coaches may help and Phelan's influence should help too, but I fear we are stuck with Adams regardless of any result against Reading.

A more pertinent question would be "Will losing to Reading get Adams get the sack?".     Imo it should, just as if we had lost to West Ham, Hughton would have probably got the sack.

Rather than taking the question absolutely literally I am interpreting the thread title as more if we beat Reading it buys Neil Adams more time - which some may argue impacts on giving us the best possible chance of achieving the highest position we can.

Well actually if you look at the In/Out vote the vast majority of those voting see NA as out of his depth. So the point has some substance.

However we now have the Phelan factor to consider as well. The board will want to give this a few games to see how they work as a team. Which in this context means the Reading result will not be the tipping point. So we had all better get behind the team and hope for that win.

Personally I think the next 3 games are crucial. If we only get a couple of points then there will be considerable supporter pressure on the board to act. A fair haul of points and signs of improvement and the new management team get more time.

Neil Adams, and his coaching staff, appears to be floundering. Of course, the addition of Mike Phelan could be the one thing that makes them a good coaching team and put us on a run that takes us higher, and the mountain ahead isn't exactly Himalayan.

So tomorrow when Mike begins his first day and probably studies a few recordings, if he hasn't already, then we might just see something different and hopefully improving. I am still hoping that NA has enough about him to sort it even though in the poll I voted out.

I never intended to use this thread as a 'look at me'  type thread, I intended it as an illustration that, just like the Hughton era, a victory for City now, however much needed, would only gloss over the previous 9 abysmal games under Adams stewardship.

Many have accused the Board of dragging their heels over the sacking of CH, and this might well be the case again with Adams imo, the poll results on this site appears to reinforce this argument.

But I must re-emphasise, no mischief was ever intended whilst writing this thread, only concern for our club was my motive.

Relegation is not a non-issue. If you look at our last 10 games it's relegation form. I think it may be better if we lost our next game and the board was forced to act rather than seeing Adams struggle from one must-win game to the next as we slowly drop down the table.
