Best replacement for Alex Neil?

If Alex Neil  was to get sacked who would be the best replacement?

I honestly don't know.

Theres lots of speculation about managers already in jobs, but I really struggle to come up with a name that isn't working.

Big fat Sam has been mentioned a fair bit, really not sure about that.....

An interesting theory punted is Roy Hodgson in a director of football role (he's friends with Delia) which I wouldn't be entirely against, but wouldn't want him as a manager.

I think we've got completely the wrong type of squad for Allardyce to be honest, not enough workhorses and he'll soon discard players like Wes. Plus apparently Ravel Morrison has some secret recordings of him going full Harry Redknapp at West Ham, think there is more to come out in the wash.

What does going full Harry redknapp mean? Like opening bank accounts in your dogs name, the sort of financial thing that didn't happen?

Difficult choice, but there must be better options.

Karl Robinson did a good job at MK Dons for a long time. Mark Warburton might not be a bad one to look at. Nigel Pearson. Kenny Jacket. Paul Grayson.

All possibly worth a look. Plus Roy or Sam Allardyce. Shame we didn't act soon enough to try and get Bruce or Lambert.

For me, Board need to grow some do the deed, regardless of result today, and get Big Sam, who would get us up and stand a great chance of keeping us up. He wouldnt come cheap, and that's the problem, so it wont happen. Otherwise I believe we need experience, no more Manager's cutting their teeth thanks.

What about Lars Lagerbäck? 

Very experienced manager. Single handedly made Iceland into a top european side. All of his teams have been very well organized, but they always attack in great numbers when on the ball. Obv problem that he has no experience from English football, but i would love it if we looked abroad.

I'm not sure he has done much single handedly having been a joint manager most of his career.  However, I would certainly welcome him and we could probably even have a Neil or Adams with him.  If the Iceland coach can't sort out our defence no one can.

I'll probably get slated for saying this but I want to bring back Neil Adams into the coaching team, possibly with a view to him learning and maybe getting another chance longer term. I don't think he lacked technical knowledge, and I think the strategies he used worked well. I also think he had a good eye for talent. I just think he lacked in discipline and experience dealing with players who think they are better than they are. 

We need a clear out of the old guard of players and to think progressively about coaching. Until Adams lost the dressing room we played some great football. The board should have seen this coming and brought someone in as director of football to deal with those issues. 

Maybe someone like Pardew with Adams at his side could work. I don't know enough about him to say if this would work though. 

At this point I think almost any change would be good, if for no reason than to shake the players out of their complacency and comfort zone. A few string decisions like cancelling some contracts or moving people on for little to no money (Martin, Bassong, Mulumbu, et all) would send tremors through the dressing room and make them sit up and take note. 

On the other hand, I could be massively wrong and Delia and Michael could be right. In 10 years time we might start playing decent footie again under Neil.
