When I was growing up full-backs were often considered an unimportant position and where you got shoved if you werent necessarily the fastest or biggest. Bit like when the kid who cant kick the ball very well gets shoved in goal.

Football has changed to the point that the important contribution these roles have are almost recognised on a par with the strikers. How the game has changed!

A great fullback can give you an extra attacker wihtout leaving your defence exposed (ie to be great they also get back when needed) which can make all the difference. Gone are the days when attacking is for the attackers and defenders only defend

Brady has impressed when going forward although his decision making defensively was not that of a fb.  eg around 70 mins he dived into a challenge when standing the player up was the option.  Against less inept teams it would cost us.  Great attitude and energy bodes well,  and also confirms that while last year's squad is good it is easy to improve every position as better is available

Wide left remains the one space to fill so I would be shocked if Brady didn't simply move forward. Howson did it v well on sat but Dorrans was a revelation central right with wes, better than howson usually does.   I suspect wes Brady mulumbu and redmond will start regularly if fit with form dictating who from Dorrans and howson joins them.  Both are in great form and it's their shirt to lose right now

Johnson has showed in both games that he is just half a step short of quality for the prem   great squad cover but little more

Midfield is a great problem for AN to have

I suspect wes Brady mulumbu and redmond will start regularly if fit with form dictating who from Dorrans and howson joins them.

Howson is now starting to show some of the form that made us chase him for so long. I believe he is the most talented out of the old Leeds brigade but was having to play a role he didn't really suit and as a consequence was often anonymous.

It will be hard on him if he has to make way.

But what a lovely headache for the manager.

I am a huge tettey fan (big game on sat again), such a good reader of the game and provides the platform for the midfield 4 and full backs to play their game;  he fills in their gaps so well.

However mulumbu has really impressed me and seems to be a boosted Tettey so I expect he will be the regular;   but again great competition and tettey has done everything right to keep the shirt for the pivotal CDM role at the mo
