Well what do you expect on the pinkun lol

My issue with Hughton is that he spend a record amount for us on two strikers (RVW and Hooper) who didn't work with his style of play which IMO was the main reason we were relegated, the idea he could have kept us up is just laughable.

I'm not really bothered how he gets on there tBH

I like the bloke. He failed here, but I wish him well all the same, and hope he does well at Brighton, provided it's not at our expense!

All managers fail in the end

Hughton was a success in his first season but failed to build sufficiently on his achievements. He was let down by some players he signed and he made some mistakes. I would have kept him but the increasingly poisonous atmosphere made that impossible after the West Brom game.

Turning to City, you've only got to see Twitter since Reading to see that Adams is stuck in the same trap as Hughton last year with the snide and the back biters jumping on every failure. Unless there is a sustained improvement better than one poor loss after three wins and a very creditable draw, another West Brom moment beckons.

Here's the thread on the Hughton appointment on Brighton's main forum. Full of fun facts like Norwich fans being the most arrogant and over expectant fans in the world and Hughton would have kept us up if we'd just let him finish the season lol idiots.
Don't worry about brighton fans their online community are vile. A team with no close Rival (unlike you with Ipswich and us with the d1ngle5 and seals) so they take it out on everybody else. Once the bloom fell off te rose, they reverted to be what they are a small team in a big plastic stadium

Yeah I know a few Brighton fans on another forum, who are absolute morons.

Some of their comments:

Hughton's a very good manager. At Norwich they sacked him and still got relegated, and probably would have got relegated if they sacked him earlier.

To suggest the guy they replaced him with (their youth team manager) is 'better' than a proven manager like Hughton is pretty stupid.

Sacking managers should be the last resort, but clubs do it at the drop of a hat now which is sad.
I then said:

Don't talk crap about stuff you clearly know nothing about. If we had go rid of Hughton earlier, the vast majority of Norwich fans would tell you that we would've stayed up, and the main reason that we didn't is because we played Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal in our last 4 games of the season. In those last 4 games though, Adams showed more tactical nous and gave us more hope of of staying up than Hughton ever did. We lost 8 straight league games away from home under Hughton before he was sacked, which was the main reason we went down, because he simply refused to change the tactics in away games despite the fact it was so obvious it needed changing. Adams came in and we drew 0-0 at Stamford Bridge, and could've won the game. Hughton would never have kept us up, and the decision to eventually sack him was the right one, but unfortunately it came far too late.
He then said:

Then the 'vast majority' of Norwich fans are extremely naive.

You're speculating on stuff you have no clue about, and making it out to be fact.
Another Brighton fan then says:

He was above the relegation zone when he was sacked yet you, mr mystic meg, know for a fact you would have gone down if he had remained in charge. Jesus wept.
Me:

We would've done.
Him:

You don't know that. You were still 5 points above the relegation zone when he was sacked. Who knows what could have happened.
Me:

5 points, with Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal as our last 4 games.

And I know what would've happened, as does every Norwich fan. Let me tell you.

We would've gone to Old Trafford and sit back and try and nick a point by playing ridiculously deep, and allowing them to have the ball in dangerous areas without any sort of pressure from our midfield. We would've been 3-0 down in 20 minutes, and we would then throw everyone up front to try and get a goal back, and get destroyed on the counter attack. Whereas what happened under Adams, is we matched them for the first half, but conceded a stupid penalty right at the end of the half, which gave them the lead, and was ultimately our downfall.

Against Liverpool at home we would've done exactly the same, and got thumped again. Whereas under Adams whilst we were poor first half and went 2-0 down, we were all over them 2nd half, and had it not been for a lucky Raheem Sterling goal, that was going straight into Ruddy's arms until it took a deflection off of Ryan Bennett and went in, we would've got at least a point, but as it was we ended up losing 3-2.

Against Chelsea.... yep, you guessed it, we would've stuck 10 men behind the ball, and let them have possession, and they would be comfortably winning by half time. Whereas what actually happened, is our midfield actually put pressure on them when they had the ball, and we also defended superbly throughout, and had Robert Snodgrass taken an absolutely golden opportunity then we would've won. As it went we drew 0-0, a result we never would've got under Hughton.

And against Arsenal, even if our future depended on this game, we would've done exactly the same. As it goes, we were already relegated by then, and therefore didn't really turn up anyway, because it ultimately didn't matter.
Me:

Our 11th place finish was actually very deceptive. With 2 games left of the season we were still in a lot of danger, but fortunately we went and beat West Brom of all people in our penultimate game, which ensured safety, and then we won again on the final day of the season which got us up to 11th. The 11th suggests to an outsider like yourself that it was comfortable, but it certainly wasn't.

But ok, fair enough, we finished 11th. We then went and spent about £30m on new players, including £13m on new strikers, who managed 9 goals between them all season, and only 1 of those was from our record signing. Hughton didn't have a clue how to use van Wolfswinkel, even though he'd spent £9m. RvW showed in his first few games that he is quality, however he slowly went downhill, and by the end he was a liability. Which is partly Hughton's fault, and partly his own. But do you honestly think it's good enough for a team that in your view comfortably finished 11th the season before, to be in 17th with a few games left, with the teams below having games in hand.

I agree the timing of the sacking was poor, as I've said, he should've gone earlier. However, to say we should've stuck with him is ridiculous. Our first game after Hughton was sacked was Fulham away. Under Hughton it was an absolute certainty that we would've lost, as we'd lost our last 8 away games before that one. We needed to get someone else in, anyone else, as they would give us a much better opportunity of winning. As it goes, we went to Fulham, and completely outplayed them, and had it not been for an unbelievable Stockdale save in the first half, we would've gone 1-0 up, and probably gone on to win the game. As I said though, he made the save, Fulham got a goal from a set-piece, and despite our best attempts we couldn't salvage anything. Under Hughton we would've been dead and buried at that point, but we went there with Adams and were unlucky not to win.

You even say in your post "I remember the game against us on the last day of the season and we were by no means convincing in victory. As a Norwich fan has pointed out, they could have got something against Liverpool. They drew with Chelsea". Exactly. You've proved my point. We were much better under Adams in the last few games against difficult opposition, than we would've ever been under Hughton, that's why he was sacked.
Him:

Fair enough. You watch Norwich more than I do, so I can't make a full assessment on him. I just think he should have been given till the end of the season, 5 games, whatever happened, and then sacked him if you stayed up/went down. Maybe, as you said, he should have gone long before that, sort of around this time last year. There's a lot of examples of smaller teams spending a bit of money and the signings not paying off.
At that point I couldn't be bothered to argue back.

I took me so long to copy all those over that I've forgotten what my initial point was, but there.
