Colney and the need to spend millions of pounds on it.

I drove past Colney today for the first time in ages and I now see why the Club are making it a priority on their budget. As AN said at the AGM it is where the players spend most of their working life and to be honest it is looking like a bit of a "s***hole", tired and out-dated.

It used to be said ten years ago that the Colney facilities attracted players as it was better than a lot of other Clubs training facilities but I suspect this is no longer the case. I know, on the whole, fans are only interested in the Club spending big money on high paid, high quality players but it appears to me that anybody turning up at Colney from any other PL or overseas club and probably some CL clubs would be put off signing for City and I can now understand why AN and D McN are making it a priority.

Lets face it, most of us would prefer our workplace to be as near state-of-the-art as possible.

Haven't been past Colney for years, used to live at the far end on Colney Lane.  I remember it was a big development under Chase, apparently after he saw the facilities at Bayern and decided we needed those sort of facilities.  And that was quite a while ago now.

Its funny I always assumed Colney to be pretty swish, but if I think back, its probably been ten years since I was actually there.

Until we see what the refurbishment entails, there must be a doubt as to the priorities. The gist was to bring it up to a level that befits the club and the top class player we are trying to enlist.

Is it just coats of paint type of thing or new building work? And when ever major capital work is put to tender it invariably costs twice the price it should have. We don't need Tracey Emin painting the loos when RG Carter has a nice chap in white overalls.

Maybe Delia can cry the poor tale to Nick Knowles and his team.

I thought they told the AGM that they needed new buildings for senior Pros and that the Academy kids would take over the old facilities. The old state of the art indoor pitch (basically a huge rigid marquee) has weathered about as well as the sports park at Asda.
