Could Grabban or Jerome be top goalscorer?

Just looking at the odds being offered by the bookies, Lewis Grabban is currently 2nd favourite to finish top scorer in the division with odds as low as 7/1. Britt Assombalonga is favourite. 

I've been happy with Grabban overall, like the fact that he creates chances out of nothing and he will score goals whether he gets decent service or not in this division, but he hasn't been particularly clinical and Bournemouth fans said much the same when he signed for us. He also had a goal drought last season and is a confidence player. As the season progresses I doubt our strikers will continue to get this many clear cut chances, teams will suss us out and we'll have grind out the 1-0's at times.

Jerome so far has looked much more clinical, and bookies are offering anything up to 14/1 on him finishing top scorer. Would you put money on either of them topping the goalscoring charts come the end of the season? 

I probably wouldn't if I'm honest. With us having Hooper, he'll probably feature a fair bit in rotation so that's a few goals lost for each (we must have more quality options than any other team in this league?). If I had to put money on either I'd probably go with Jerome based on what we've seen so far. 

Martin at 12/1 or Rhodes at 10/1 would probably be where the smart money goes?

14/1 for Jerome is great odds. For me he's the more likely to get it out of the two. I haven't actually been too impressed with Grabban's overall play to be perfectly honest. Seems to be good at being in the right place at the right time, which I suppose is what all the great strikers can do. And for me although he works hard, and usually shows good link-up play, he seems to miss more than he scores, and he isn't actually that good in 1 on 1 situations, as we saw in the Ipswich game. He can also go through whole games being pretty uninvolved. For example the Birmingham game. If he has a few games like that on the trot then he could very find himself out of the team, especially with Hooper coming back soon. It sounds a bit like I'm slating him there which I don't want to do, as he's had a very good start to his Norwich City career, and I'm very happy with what he's done so far. And as long as he keeps up this goal ratio he'll be somewhere near the top of the top goalscorers charts come May. 

Jerome for me though is the better player, and the more complete centre forward. He's strong, he's quick, he's great in the air, and a great finisher. He also works endlessly hard off the ball. I'm definitely gonna wander down to the bookies tomorrow and stick a tenner on him at 14/1. Considering that he admitted that he wasn't fully fit at the start of the season, and that he missed the first few games as well, his goal tally is very impressive thus far. 

One thing is certain though. When you consider that Fulham paid £11m for McCormack, and Leicester paid £10m for Ulloa, getting these 2 for a combined £4.5m is excellent business by Mr.Adams.

Tremendous business.

Suspect that by the time we've finished this season there will be plenty of teams willing to pay that for either one of them. 

Ulloa for £10m is currently looking like great business for Leicester though, 5 goals in 5 games in the Premier League. He's outscoring everybody but Diego Costa!

I'm afraid I wouldn't put money on either Grabban or Jerome to finish top scorer. Both have a great bit of form at the start of this campaign, but unfortunately can't see it lasting for either player (really would like to be proved wrong however)

If Hooper had been fit thru pre season and hit the ground running like either of the other 2 then I'd be putting money on him, but may be too late already for him to play catch up, especially with Grabs and Jerome keeping him out of the team for the time being. Still think he'll be our main striker soon however. I've been saying it since day 1 of this season and am not going to let the poor 1st game in the cup put me off!

Grabban, in his interview and admitting that he had not scored for three games, suggested that he and Jerome were becoming an effective pairing. However well they get on together, there must be an element  of competition between them, even if neither admits this. Each will want to be top dog, i.e. leading scorer.

So either, or both considering our scoring machine, could be among the leading scorers at the end of the season. If I had to bet, I would think that at the moment I would say that Jerome looks the more likely, if only because he has a better touch and control.

The chances of Hooper and Loza getting into the team look not very good at the moment, but it's good to have them in case of injury or loss of form.
