Dedicated to the wrong cause?

So I've been waiting around 2 years for my season ticket to finally get it for this season, am over the moon.

I can just about afford £50 train journeys to Norwich and back from little old Maidenhead on a regular basis, so all systems are go.

So, first home game of the season Vs Watford falls on my girlfriends sisters 30th Birthday. Somehow I've been talked into going to that (Newbury races) instead of the Watford game, after a 2 year wait for my shiny new season ticket...

Am I too dedicated to my GF, or am I doing the right thing...

<_<

Slippery slope mate, you need to make her feel really guilty and you could reap the rewards  ;)

Hmmm, tricky. If I'm being totally honest, if it was her birthday, not her sisters, I could see her point.

But with all relationships, you have to do whatever keeps the peace, and gives you as easy a time as possible!

And perhaps in this case it could earn you "good boyfriend" points, that could be redeemed at a later date?

....can't seem to find an image of a shadow being cast by a big thumb.... :D

In all seriousness you could:

1) Set your stall out early and demonstrate that NOTHING is more important than football.

2) Earn a HUGE amount of brownie points by holding her hand at the races. Increase brownie points by announcing regular score updates and then at 4:55pm saying something like: "...you know, Norwich won 5-0 today and Wolf bagged a hat-trick but it was worth missing that to spend today with you..."

Option 1) could cost you your relationship and option 2) could render your season ticket obsolete as she then plans endless trips to Ikea and suchlike for your Saturdays.

Yeah, it's a quandary.

Good Luck.  :)

The one thing that is really in my court is she is a massive football fan (Arsenal, but we won't talk about that) and is just as pissed off that she can't make the Arsenal V Palace game.

I think I'm gonna have to bite the bullet on this one, but definitely make sure she knows how much I wish I was at the footy :)

I, being an old chap, suffer from gout 2 or 3 times a year. I don't like this, the pain is so severe..Now as people know of my problem, a sudden attack comes in really handy if you get my meaning. Maybe you can find a reasonable problem, which could help on those special occasions when needed

Your girlfriend, yeah, I get it.

Your girlfriend's sister?  Nah, don't get it.

But if you were indecisive and wanted her to "persuade you", I get it.

I guess the answer all depends on how much do you fancy her sister.

Ditch her and get a new squeeze. Much too unreasonable.

Make sure you spend the whole match glued to your phone for score updates, then a good hour post-match on Norwichtalk.com, and she will think twice about inviting you next time  :D
