Because getting promoted out of this league is more important to us, simply. And there is only money in a cup run, for the likes of us, if you draw a big team, and invariably lose.

I don't think there has ever been such a rule in the cups?

Well if getting promoted is so important, then an FA Cup tie is the perfect place to try and alter things that might just be a turning point in the season. Nothing to lose in trying a new formation or combination of players? How about Hooper and Lafferty together up front? How about Ollson on the left and Garrido in at LB? Or even 5-3-2?  Or just trying to win another game instead of writing it off?

To be honest, I've never bought the "concentrate on the league" nonsense. Three times in the last few years a cup loss has spelled the start of a really poor run of form for us. Leicester, Villa, Shrewsbury. Winning is a habit, losing is a habit and getting knocked out of the cup can really take the wind out of your sails.

Oh I'm sure they will try and win it. But there will be more youth in it that senior players.

That's my view as well Splutcho. With a big squad and no reserve team football, we need cup games to keep players match-fit as well.

I ideally wanted one of the non-league teams away from home so that there was a chance we'd be on the tele. Preston away is pretty underwhelming to say the least.
