I assume this will be reinstalled at the Carra this closed season. Does anyone know how many times it was used in the premier league last season?

I certainly read somewhere that it was removed when we were relegated as the equipment doesnst belong to the club. It would be interesting to know the stats?

Funny how when it was first used in the world cup they used it to confirm every goal, even the ones which had smashed the net. After a few games this was stopped as it was clearly silly. You dont seem to hear about it anymore

The cameras were removed from Carrow Road when we were relegated but the mounting brackets were not so as to make for an easy reinstall.

As to how many times it was used last season, well it is not really a question that can be answered. The technology is not used for reviewing a decision like it is in tennis or cricket, but instead it provides (virtually) real time feedback to the ref as to whether a goal has been scored or not. If the ball crosses the line the watch worn by the ref will vibrate indicating that a goal has been scored. This happens regardless of whether the ball bounced a 1mm over the line and back out again or breaks the back of the net. The only way you could really come up with stats on how effective the technology has been would be by reviewing every goal scored last season and then making a judgement as to whether without goal line technology the ref would have given it or not. You would also have to do the same for all near misses too.
