Greg Dyke's Proposals

I see Greg Dyke is proposing that the number of home grown players in premier league squads should increase 8 to 12, with a further amendment that a player must have trained in Britain for 3 years before the age of 18 rather than the current age requirement of 21.

Tom Fox the Aston Villa CEO has stated that he is against it (for reasons that I do not fully understand) and that every other premier league CEO is also against it.

Now I can not see why we would be against that - surely in our interests to up the number of home grown players. Same for Bournemouth I would think. So is he referring to last season's premier league CEOs? If not, this is a stance not totally supportive of our CEO's home grown transfer strategy - albeit I accept it is not necessarily contradictory either.

A rule change like this would mean clubs higher up the food chain would suddenly need more homegrown players, I wonder where they would look. 

I expect that is why most of the CEOs at clubs with homegrown cores would vote against it.

Maybe if they did it gradually over 4 or 8 years they'd actually have a chance of getting clubs on board.
