City have been reported as to having contacted  Italian outfit Cesena who are said to be willing to sell Gregorie Defrel after the club's relegation last season.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Canaries are preparing a €6.4m (£4.5m) bid for the 24-year-old Frenchman but could face opposition from Italian clubs Torino, Sampdoria and Bologna.

Defrel joined Cesena back in 2012 and has scored 16 goals in 106 appearances with the club.

Is he a striker?

If so, 16 goals in 106 games is f*cking terrible.

Seems to be all around forward, not a striker. Trnasfermarkt says he has played mostly as secondary striker and right wing. But last season was ok if not good statwise for a relegated player. 9+6 in 34 and considered only good player in the team.

Hopefuly our scouting team and manager know what they want as rumoured players are quite much gamble and not really sure starters. You never know what you catch under the radar and what you can steal from relegated teams, but have to say I haven't been too impressed about rumoured player

Anyway could be decent addition for strenghtening three slots behind striker.

Can't say I had heard of him until today. Seemingly done okay last season.

Doubt that we're actually in for him.

We're an easy club to link random players to. Think an agent in whatever country can link to a club like ours, new to the Premiership so having money and a need to invest, but not chasing the top names, and it be plausible, so it gives clubs a jolt and either flushes out a new contract or drums up a bit of interest.

Still the link the Larrivey proved genuine, so it seems we're looking at strikers who dont score many goals. Is Elmander available again?

From what I gather, he's a striker who's regularly and consistently used out on the wing rather than his preferred position (a'la Walcott at Arsenal).

Was one of the only players to get any real credit out of the relegated Cesena side and has potential to develop.

Looks a bit like a Grabban style striker, in that he's fairly quick, happy to run channels and can score given a decent chance, but who isn't anywhere near consistent enough to play for a top side IMHO.

Interesting signing if there's any truth to it, but I think we can do better.
