Still a big risk though because its the January window.

£13m for Brady felt like a good price, until it cost us £7m to replace him because clubs don't want to lose their better players in the middle of the season.

I'm pretty sure we will have someone in by then. Farke has said that Murphy can slip into the role (as seen in our false 9 formation in first leg against Chelsea) and theoretically once he pulls his finger out, Marley can play there too. I think any striker who plays in our formation is going to struggle to score a lot frankly. I don't think we can recall Carlton, but when he is back in the summer I certainly don't see him as a first choice option, more likely about 3rd.

Morris isn't exactly setting the world alight in the 3rd tier, so I'd be surprised if he makes the squad next season. I don't think he's Championship standard, and with an even more trimmed down squad there will be less room for passengers. As far as Watkins is concerned, for someone who came on a free, think I'm right, to be showing an attitude problem, is ridiculous. Wouldn't be surprised if Farke doesn't bin him. If he doesn't want to play for us or can't be ar sed to put in the effort required, best he toddles off, and we get someone in who wants to play for us.

In this instance I really dont buy the argument that we needed to get one out before bring in the replacement/s, sorry I just dont. I simply see it as an inexcusable bit of management by the person appointed to handle transfer dealings. NO professional club at our level should ever be left with just one striker in their squad, let alone a striker who very clealy is not interested in playing for us. Even with two strikers we were exposed, there should be a minimum of three decent strikers to choose from as a minimum at a club of our size.............Webber is beginning to look like an absolute amateur !

I really don’t get all this “ everything is Webber’s fault “ stuff. He’s sorting out one hell of a mess, he didn’t sign all these players that we need to get rid of, he’s doing the dirty business. How about we see who comes in before the end of the month before getting all upset ? We all know we’re short of strikers, and it might not be ideal but if Marley Watkins had shown a better attitude at least we would have had a bit of cover yesterday.

Serial whingeing and wind up merchants, thats a fair part of the issue. A lot of the rest of it is people who can't be bothered to take the time to properly follow and understand the situation we are in, and the mechanics and logistics of sorting it out. They usually show their true colours and stupidity by calling for a filthy rich Chinese investor as being the solution to everything

Interesting point of view . Let me give you a different perspective. Extreme happy clappers have let the evil stowmarket 2 get a way for years with mismanaging the club and its finances

To be fair I dont think Webber has done anything too difficult so far.

Weve not been particularly successful in the players brought into the club and we've got rid of good players (not difficult) and the less good ones we've only managed to ship off on loan and get percentages of wages paid. Its hardly been an incomparable achievement so far.

And like OR said, I dont think being left with one striker is planning ahead. The CJ transfer had a week just in the public domain so I reckon there was at least a fortnight in advance to get a striker in. Even before that should have been done as soon as we knew Pritchard was off.

So far Webber has done about the minimum required and not much more. Hopefully another full summer will help.
