I noticed that quote too!   He definitely has a much more hard approach to player management compared to Adams. He appeared to go for the 'be their friend so they want to play for you' approach.  Getting straight into Olsson's ear before they've even got into the dressing room shows this guy doesn't mess about!  Maybe he's trying to compensate for his young age?

This manager means business and like any job if someone isn't doing something right then a word in the ear is sometimes called for. I can see what A.Ns point is square balls into midfield sometimes as was the case last night backfire big time. I don't think A N is a manager to be messed about with.

In an ideal world the players wouldn't necessarily need it, and turning up to play in yellow and green would be enough for them to want to put their best shift in. But as that doesn't seem to be the way football works any more (if it ever did) then hopefully AN can get them playing to the best of their capabilities.

I'm a manager in my workplace, and I find a mix of the buddy approach of NA with the fear factor of AN works the best for me. But its very different worlds running a warehoused compared to a football team

There's many different schools on leadership but I hope Alex Neil hasn't got them fearful. That's almost never a good tactic in leadership and not what we want.

I'm not sure that's what Tettey's saying, I think he's saying it's made clear to them what's expected and if they fail to put in the effort they will know about it. It's a subtle difference imo rather than them being fearful of his retribution if they do not perform as the means to encourage them.
