I went to a conference once, held at Nottingham University aimed at the yoof. A very eminent speaker (professor I think) had given a talk to about 300 adolescents for the last hour, and at the end he asked if there were any questions. The first question asked was 'Do you know where the nearest McDonalds is?'

The problem with the fans being expected to write off a month of the season to let Alex Neil find his feet splutcho is that we would basically be being asked to write off our entire season, because we couldn't afford to have another spell of bad form. 

Now, if the club wanted to sell us the idea that Alex Neil has been told to build a team to achieve promotion next season then perhaps some of us would buy it, but the 12 month rolling contract and the failure to either sell or buy a single player does not suggest that this is the case.

It feels to me like the fans are judging him against the remit that he has been set by the board, so perhaps we should blame them for any high expectations. Perhaps if McNally had said that the pressure was off this season and that the new manager was building for next season then we'd all look at the appointment differently.

yeh, the thread on the Pink Un goes into it in detail.   It was designed to be a quite 'soft' Q&A if that makes sense, so he wasn't really asked anything too pressing.  It was largely general football stuff  e.g. Who's the best player you've played against...if you could sign anyone in the world... etc etc.

Although he did say my question was 'fantastic'
