If You Scored Against Norwich...

It's 1-1, 3rd minute of injury time at Carrow Road in the play off semi final. You're playing for Blackburn and attacking from a corner. Turner heads clear the initial ball in, but it comes to you 30 yards out and you instinctively volley it into the top corner. It's the goal of the season and takes your team to Wembley. What do you do?

In this hypothetical scenario, had I played for Norwich previously and been something of a legend?

 
Though to be fair, If I hit a 30 yard volley into a top corner anywhere I think I would have to run over to the fans - in this case the away fans - whip my shirt off, whirl it around my head Gangnam-style, throw it into the crowd and give it the full Jesus Christ pose until I was booked for unsporting behaviour/time wasting/having a crap body.

So I'll stick with my answer, but if I'd scored an equaliser in a relatively unimportant league game then I'd probably have just picked the ball up and run back to the centre circle.

I like to think I wouldn't celebrate, but in that scenario I don't think I could help it. But I certainly wouldn't celebrate in front of the Norwich fans. I'd probably just try and quietly celebrate with my team mates and own fans.

I don't get this not celebrating thing at all. If I was Frank Lampard I'd be celebrating that goal like a mad ejit.

If, in the highly unlikely event that Pilks had scored against us at Cardiff, I wouldn't have cared if he celebrated in front of us. In the even more unlikely event that Holt scores for Wigan in front of the Barclay, let him do his trademark wrist kissing stuff.

Just a bit of advice for Frank - if you don't want to score against Chelsea, don't take shed loads of money to play for Man City.

Generally, I agree with you Andy. I generally hate it when players don't celebrate against their old club, especially when it was only a place they only spent on load for 6 months.

However, in cases like Lampard, I'm more than OK. I think it's quite clear that Lampard didn't want to leave Chelsea. He was there for 13 years, and helped build the club into the powerhouse it is today.

I can remember Norwich fans being furious when Bellamy celebrated against us, not last season for Cardiff but the time before that. Didn't really understand why it angered people. 

In fact, people like Craig Bellamy and Grant Holt will celebrate because it winds people up. All part of the banter at football, needs its characters. If I were Lampard I'd have run to the dugout and pulled a moony at Mourinho.

I suppose as a fan you like to feel that a players time with you meant something personally to them, and that they werent just picking up their paycheck like a mercenary. I think not celebrating against your old club is a mark of respect for the cause you used to champion and the fans who used to cheer you. I have more respect for footballers who behave this way

Balotelli didn't celebrate versus us, he must have a big respect for Norwich City. Maybe he'll join us if we get back to the Premiership

Personally, I couldn't celebrate Norwich losing. But that's me as a fan. If I was a pro footballer I'm guessing I'd feel differently.
