Jacob Murphy on loan at Blackpool seems to have made a bit of a school boy error. Before the game against Sheffield Wednesday, he sent the below pic out on Snapchat. Someone seems to have saved it and tweeted it earlier today. Someone is in trouble...

Not particularly, he was probably told to make a bland statement, and hope it blows over.

The board game theory could still be sound, but obviously still a bit daft, as it could be easily misconstrued.

Considering football clubs have media spokespeople etc, Im surprised it isnt common policy that footballers are banned from social media. i know that sounds draconian, but look how vulnerable it makes them to anyone with an agenda, and there are plenty of them. it just invites trouble. Im surprised the clubs dont crack down on it. I mean look at the controversy theis could cause, whether its genuine foolishness or a stitch-up. There is now an issue where there was no issue before, fans divided, team-mates and management influenced. All in the public domain. Very silly

Silly thing to do, but perhaps that's why Adams considers Josh ready to play for us whilst Jacob gets sent to Blackpool.... maybe he has some growing up to do. Blackpool fans should accept the apology and move on though, most 19 year olds are prone to doing and saying stupid things.

You would be outraged if a loan player did that for us. Look at the stick Gutierrez got at the end of last season for something he said after the Chelsea game. I wouldnt be suprised if his loan got cancelled now.

I probably would be angry if a loan player said that, yes. Or any player in fact. 

But their fans voted Jacob Murphy their player of the month for November, so he must be putting in the effort on the pitch, and he is just a kid. 

As a Norwich fan I'm just glad he has made that mistake at Blackpool, if he has more than a few brain cells it means he won't make the same mistake at Norwich in the future.

I'd be interested to know how a fine would work here. A player can be fined up to 2 weeks wages for misconduct, but if Blackpool are paying his wages could they fine him or would they require us to fine him? If it is us that need to agree to fine him then I think we probably do so. 

Also, I wonder who stitched him up here..... should probably reconsider his friendship with whoever he sent the snapchat to!

Let's be honest here, unprofessional it may have been by Jacob, but, the reality of the club's situation stems back to the mismanagement by those in power over the summer and before.

Ask yourself these questions:-

What club, at this level, has 17 players out of contract in the summer?

What club gets itself into a position where it starts pre-season with just 7 contracted players?

What club arranges pre-season friendlies and then has to cancel due to insufficient resources?

Bottom line is, the club has been run badly over many months (some would say years) and this is the culmination of a whole series of errors, resulting in a poor squad for this season on the Championship

Ask yourself these questions:-

What club, at this level, has 17 players out of contract in the summer?

What club gets itself into a position where it starts pre-season with just 7 contracted players?

What club arranges pre-season friendlies and then has to cancel due to insufficient resources?

Bottom line is, the club has been run badly over many months (some would say years) and this is the culmination of a whole series of errors, resulting in a poor squad for this season on the Championship

While I don't disagree, but as a fan, nobody really likes having their face rubbed in it.

It was just a kid making a naive mistake, having what he thought was a laugh with somebody that he thought he could trust but clearly couldn't. He'll learn a valuable life lesson from this episode, to our benefit, and he won't lose anything in the long run because he was never going to be signing for Blackpool anyway.... which is probably why Blackpool fans are willing to get so enraged about this, they probably feel the same way that we did in 2008/09 when we saw a succession of journeymen and kids pitch up on short term deals to use us as a shop window or a match fitness exercise whilst our future was looking bleak. 

Blackpool fans do have good reason to be angry, Jacob Murphy has good reason to be sorry, but actually this is precisely why we want to be sending our kids out on loan..... to toughen them up and knock some of the naivety out of them and I'm glad he has learnt this lesson at Blackpool instead of at Norwich where fans can be equally unforgiving when things aren't going well!  

I do think that Adams should speak with Clark though, about a possible fine, a weeks wages or something.... just to show him and Blackpool that his parent club don't approve either.

Karl Oyston is a director of the Football League so he would get off lightly, incredulous that somebody like him could hold a position like that!
