Being linked with a Reading CB - not sure where that leaves, Warner, Tomkinson, Hills and the lad on loan at Dundee Utd

I had high hopes for Tomkinson but he seems to now be at the back of a very long queue. USA beckons I suspect.

Brad Hills has played a lot more football than Warner, so if it comes down to loaning one out and keeping the other in the squad for numbers then Warner out on loan perhaps?

Replacing a 33 year old with a 19 year old? Guess we really are doing what we can to lower the age of the squad. Unsurprising really, do feel we are in the middle of a total rebuild.
Makes sense. Hanley is done at the club ans needs to be moved on, as are Barnes, McLean, Hernandez, Sorensen and in the summer Duffy.

Time to replace with some players that have more than 6 months left in terms of actual usability.

I wouldn't grumble if Onel got one more year if it helped fill a space in the squad.

Assume modest wages.

He'll be useless when he loses his pace though so that's one we should take 1 year at a time.

Agree on Sorenson, time to accept he's never going to be quite good enough.

Meaning he will find it hard to get a decent contract, so will likely move whi;e he still has 'his pace;'

Agree, that's what I'm saying really.

I only think we should give him a year at a time, but he'll likely go looking for 2-3 years for his final payday.

Not sure I'd see a 2 year deal for Onel to be a sign of progress really, he seems to be injured for half of every season and he's 32 in March. Up to Thorup & Knapper I suppose.

Strongly suspect it would need to be a modest wage if he wants 2 years out of us.

Given that Tomkinson and Warner are both 22 now, and the former will be 23 before the season ends, I think their races are run here.

I'd probably loan out Hills to League One this month because he needs minutes which he isn't getting here, and keep Hanley as backup unless we want to plan ahead by signing a younger replacement now.

That would then leave Hills and Adegboyega to come back in the summer for reassessment.

As things stand, I don't think we'd be in a hurry to get rid of Duffy because he's our best defender.

Unless of course it's finances.
Agreed, at 33 he is this season’s most improved player

Fair to say we probably need a new winger. Maybe a new striker. Perhaps a new midfielder. Could need a new defender..

Elsewhere Andrew Omobamidele could be joining Leeds on a loan, though Farkes hopes of signing Emi Buendia are looking doubtful as his weekly wage of £75,000 * is rather beyond the heridary Champions of Europe.

However, if he cannot sign Omo then there is always another City player he knows well and who is available - young master Hanley.

* I wonder if that was why he left us ?

"Lewis Dobbin is poised to sign for Norwich on loan from Aston Villa until the end of the season." (perhaps he could swap surnames with Barnes)

The 21-year-old winger could wrap up the move in the next 24 hours and has already visited the Canaries' Colney training ground.

Dobbin is available after his loan at West Brom was terminated, as he struggled for game time at the Hawthorns.

He joined Villa from Everton in a £10m move this summer, then moved to thethe Baggies in August but made just one league start for them - a 1-1 draw against Preston in November - as well as 16 substitute appearances.

He was left out of Albion's matchday squad for their New Year's Day home win over Preston and joint-caretaker boss Chris Brunt confirmed that the two clubs had come to an agreement to terminate the loan.

"Villa have asked to call him back," Brunt told BBC Radio WM. "He's not played as much as they would have wanted for a loan player coming out of a Premier League club. We will just have to roll with it and move on."

At Carrow Road, he is viewed as a replacement for midfielder Christian Fassnacht, who re-signed for Swiss side Young Boys on a two-and-a-half-year deal on New Year's Eve (and Gordon, hopefully)

The Canaries are also keen on Slavia Prague winger Matej Jurasek."

Son's friend is a long time Everton season ticket holder and he always rated Dobbin. He was bought by Villa for FFP and the homegrown quota. He is apparently quick and started out as a striker and maybe he can play a variety of roles for us. That seems to fit with what JHT has recently said. He's never really got too much game time so far in his early career. It could be a good signing.

So does Dobbin play on the right wing like Jurasek. Can't imagine we'll be signing both. Jurasek sounded a good prospect so hope this doesn't mean we've missed out on him.

Has there been any mention of a CDM in the offing that I might have missed?

See above RC. My son says he has played as a striker too so perhaps we ARE after both?
