If you were the boss and McNally knocked on your door in a cold sweat and said 'we need to sell a player to raise a couple of million to balance the books'

Who would you allow to leave (must be a first teamer) and why?

Probably Olsson, as we have a reasonably adequate backup in Garrido, and don't we have a decent youngster in that position too?

That's a good question, and hard to answer...

I would have to loom at where we have quality cover and it would need to be a player who is not absolutely crucial, so that's the "why".........

Reluctantly, it would be Olsson, very reluctantly I have to say, but I do think Garrido is quality cover at this level.

I would say Ruddy and bank a bit more. I don't know the going rate for keepers but Mignolet went for £9M.

I give up the number of times we have heard that Rudd hasn't enough experience. He is 24, the same age as Ruddy when we brought him in. He has nearly 100 first team appearances for either us or Preston. And if people don't think he is good enough, why is he still here?

I would happily sell Olsson for 5M. Garrido is good enough or get another young, fast prospect in.

I would also be quite happy to see R Martin go and see a good young prospect come in to compete with Whitts.

Probably Bradley Johnson as well. I know that might be controversial but I always feel he has mistakes in him, every game, and when he makes mistakes they are often costly. I also don't think his defensive work is anywhere near as good as he is credited for. Too often his tracking back is lacklustre.

I'd keep Ruddy but would sell Bunn.

Not sure I would sell all of the above in the same window though.

Would be crazy to get rid of Ruddy when WE have hardly tested Rudd. Goalkeeper is arguably the most important position on the pitch.

I'd say Whittakker, although I'm not sure how much we could really demand for him.

Would sell olsson ahead of ruddy,   whittaker ahead of both.  

But I would probably target midfield - we have most options there so the squad would feel it less.   Either Lafferty, Johnson or Howson would be ok

Good question!

Probably Hooper for me, a good layer but in a year hasn't set the world alight and I think Jerome and probably Grabban are as good if not better than him. 

If not Hoops then Whittaker is the choice, we have a better right back in martin and central options to cover him.

What I'd probably do is ask McNally where his healthy little Christmas bonus has gone.

Whittaker would be my choice, as I think Russell Martin is the better right back anyway, and we have better centre backs than Martin as well.

If not my vote goes to Martin.

I think it has to be Olsson and then bring in Hendrie from Hamilton.

Understand people selecting olsson, but that's more about us having Garrido. Suppose this question is not about the player but about the position and strength in depth. You couldn't sell your only left winger for instance, as then you wouldn't have one and you'd then be unbalanced (oh, wait...)

Garrido would be more than good enough to have play there instead, but personally I think olsson is our best player and couldn't bring myself to part with him. Whilst ruddy has been exceptional for us, if a big club came in with big money, I feel bunn would be more than competent as he was before, and would give Rudd chance to step up. Wouldn't want to stand in Ruddy's way of a big move after years of service. So I'd let ruddy go if I had a gun to my head

Selling our most consistent (in terms of selection and form) member of a very unconfident back 4, would be madness. Garrido hasn't played since the start of the season, and is simply not as good.
