He did say in that interview that he see's his future here, so fingers crossed he signs sooner rather than later. Good news that the club have at least offered, I was beginning to wonder what the hold up was.

Club possibly wanted to be confident that they are freeing up some wage budget in this window before giving him the huge pay rise he's probably getting? 

Otherwise it would increase our annual financial loss for this financial year.

It would seem the club have got the option so he won't be going anywhere next season. But I imagine they would like to be able to announce they have tied him down longer term to show that a highly thought of player has got faith in the club.

That's true. 

But I was thinking earlier today.... its okay that we keep advocating selling high earner X and replacing with moderate earner Y. 

The problem with that is that if we discount loan players and name what we think are our best 5 players.... how many were signed by Webber/Farke? I'd put it at zero. I could probably just about justify squeezing Trybull in at number 5 on this seasons form, but only because I have to consider Tettey's injury record. 

That's why I'm reluctant to say things like "we should sell Jerome".

Maddison and Pritchard may not have been used by Alex Neil, but they were signed when he was employed. In fact we even have to concede that they both arrived here under Jez Moxey..... as did Nelson Oliviera. 

You tend to get what you pay for unless you get lucky. Trybull is one where we got lucky.

I know it is just a bit of fun looking at all these daft rumours, but I take most of them with a pinch of salt, it really is going to be a long month for some folks!

I have every confidence that Webber has a plan, and if anyone does go, it will be because we want it to happen. They have already stated that they are under no pressure to sell anyone this January, and if that means holding out till the summer, to get the best price, I reckon we will.
