I don't actually think there has ever been anything in the Man City and Liverpool links, firstly, as much as we rate Maddison, would he really get into either midfield? And secondly, the whole thing actually originates from the fact that the two clubs were looking at him when we signed him from Coventry. I think clubs are interested, but lets remember this is his first full, well half so far, of Championship football. I think it would be more prudent to evaluate him over the full season, and perhaps make a bid in the summer.

No, I don't think he would. I think he would be benched most of the time with the occassional cameo. I always hoped he would stay at least until the summer, and for his sake tbh another season would probably be best for his development. He still has a long way to go before he could step into a top club midfield. But whether that will happen, I doubt.

I honestly think he will stay until at least the summer, unless a really, really daft bid upwards of 20 million comes in for him this window. I'm just not sure I can see it happening, like you, based on where he is in his development. I think clubs would want more of a finished article for that kind of moolah.

I'm unconvinced he'd be good enough to trouble the first team at the big 6. Or even the bench at some.

But West Ham seemingly showing their interest may force others in the league to show their hand. And who knows whether it's them, agents or even us working an angle here.

We have him on a contract until 2019, I would have thought we would want to secure him on a longer deal, he is pretty highly thought of.

Right but for every Maddison saying that there could be someone else keeping quiet about their dislike.

Because, as we know, professional footballers rarely call each other out. They usually just say something nice about someone or they don't say anything.

Doesn't really put anything to bed. I would expect nothing less from a club captain than to mentor a young player. Or maybe young Madders is just exceptionally nice? Didn't you mention that after having met him?

Yes, but if he was this kiss-arse my-way-or-the-highway guy some have made out, then Maddison would simply say nothing. Which is exactly what he has done with other departing players.

And the thing is, Maddison is fairly intelligent. He keeps making references to our fans and how they should realise what hes done, how good he is behind the scenes etc.

And id rather listen to an actual players verdict than fan rumours.

Not the first time Maddison has been effusive about Martin. Maybe the "and friend" is the clue.

Maybe, but like I said. I can only go from evidence available to me. The only other players ive spoken to outside of a football environment is Canos and Bamford.

To be fair, as club captain, it is unacceptable to be giving away penalties whilst out loan. If I was a player at Norwich, I'd be thinking "This guy is supposedly the leader of myself and all the other players, yet he can't even hack it in the SPL. If the club are prepared to even appoint a player so devoid of quality as club captain in the first place they must have very low aspirations." If you were a Maddison or a Murphy you'd certainly be thinking something along those lines and be looking to move on, and them being unhappy at the club would also rub off on the other players and effect their performances.
