Javier Garrido Says Goodbye

Has left the club after deciding he would not sign the contract extension, clearly saw his chances as being limited and at his age needs regular football.

Never let us down, I personally liked the guy, he only lacked a little bit of pace ...

Nothing special, but he was perfect as a back-up to Olsson. But that's clearly not enough for him and you can't blame him for wanting to play as he gets older.  i thought he was one of our most consistent players in that first year under Hughton. Seemed like a nice guy, best of luck to him!

Couple of things this suggests. Firstly that Olsson is likely to stay, as if he was off Garrido would have been more than adequate, and secondly that theres a good chance Toffolo might be back-up left back - as Canaryboy raised the very good point earlier that as he is under 21 he wouldnt need to take up a squad place

Probably the unluckiest player in the squad,  being behind MO; close to the second best defender at the club and would probably be a shoe in if a right back, but just 6 appearances where he barely put a foot wrong in two permanent seasons explains why he wants to move.

Surely with a "one year option", it is actually the clubs decision whether to take the option not the players? So it was the club who decided not to retain him?

These last 2 years must have been very frustrating for him. Hope he goes to a good club and does well for them.

Probably one of the unluckier squad players this last couple of years as Olsson isn't actually miles ahead of him.

Sure finding a new club will not be too hard for him.

Was very good when he was on loan in Hughton's first season, and I don't think I'll ever forget the wonderful cross he swung in for Anthony Pilkington's goal against Manchester United at CR a couple of years ago. Can't blame him for wanting to move on considering that he's barely featured since Olsson came in, and he would likely barely play this season either. I personally don't think he's good enough to be a Premier League left back any more, and as we have a promising young left back in Toffolo, who also won't need to be included in the 25 man squad, it makes sense for him to move on.

Agree with ZLF on this one.......I rated Garrido and he did put in some good shifts, unlucky and wish him all the best!
