Jerome is also in. Thoughts? He's a handful but doesn't exactly score that often.

Happy enough with him signing as long as it isn't a direct replacement for Gary Hooper. He is a big unit with a fair bit of pace, gives us another option off the bench etc.

You've got to say, there won't be many defences who would look forward to dealing with both Jerome and Lafferty bombing around up top.

Jerome offers some new options for the formations NA has been using. He's not at all a replacement for Hooper, IMO.

If the quoted 2 mil price tag is correct, this looks a shrewd purchase. Offers power and strength up top and pace as well. Good record at this level as well.

A front three of Jerome flanked by Lafferty and Grabban is a mouthwatering prospect for me....

Exactly!

I think Jerome is replacing Becchio (who will simply rot in our reserves) and IF Hooper leaves we will almost certainly be in the market for another striker.

Pretty happy with the physicality of our new signings, perfect for this league.

Anybody now the length of the contract?

With pretty much swapped Pilkington for Jerome, which a couple of years ago would have looked like terrible business - but one was injury prone with on year left on his deal, the other presumably will be on a two or three year deal?

Has the potential to be the buy of the season, a very shrewd piece of business by the manager imo.

Jerome is on a three year contract, so not a short-term solution. Agree that he could be awesome playing alongside our present strikers.

We've had a long term interest. Worthy wanted him years ago and Hughton also tried to get him. Not a prolific scorer but the people moaning are the ones who haven't got their heads round the reality of the Championship. We can't always outpass teams, sometimes it will be a battle (the proverbial wet Wednesday in Rotherham!) and we'll need power rather than guile. Its all about having different options.

Remember our trying to get him from Cardiff when he went to Birmingham. Always liked his style. Defenders know they are in a match playing against him. Stoke have quoted £1.5m, so good bit of business.

He'll be a great fit here, we really need that physical presence.. As has been already posted the thought of him and Lafferty coming against you as defenders will give you nightmares - We won't always play that way but if we're chasing a game and need something in the last 15-20 mins we can make the going get very tough.

Hooper fit (Preferred),or another goalscorer (20+) in his place and i'll be quite pleased with our forward line, i was very concerned opening day.

Welcome to the club and pleased to have you here Jerome!

Adams has certainly kept his promise of adding replacements if players left. Wonder if there might be an ACM coming in from the Fer money.

I think that might depend on the Surman situation, With Tetty, Johnson, Howson, Surman, O'Neil and Hoolahan we are pretty stacked in the middle.

Some direct competition for Wes would be nice though.

I think there will be another one in before the window, even if only a loanee.

When you say 'one', do you mean player, or specifically a forward/midfielder?  Must admit i'm expecting a couple more to come in if i'm honest and Bassong/Becchio to be out.

Midfielder, but I expect that we may add another defender too (unless, of course, someone else significant leaves). I don't have an insight on this one by the way, its just my guess!

Think Bassong and Becchio will go on the last day. Everyone knows we want them out and will wait for a fire sale. I suspect we'll take a big hit on Bassong, but anything on Becchio is a bonus as we spent peanuts on him.
