From what I've seen he's not an upgrade on Bennett so it wouldn't surprise me if his true value was under £3 million.

Two games in a struggling side in a new league is no basis for judging anyone. Klose actually looks fairly composed on the ball and should continue to improve.

I do get frustrated with the modern obsession with stats. For example Wes's stats show a high pass completion rate but don't show him turning into blind alleys and losing the ball. I prefer to draw conclusions from watching matches.

Spot on with Grabban? Take a look at Champs level strikers and their transfer fees. As much as I don't rate him, he's worth a hell of a lot more than 2m.

can only agree its far too soon to tell for Klose;  signs he will be a significant improvement on bassong as well as bennett.

As far as wes is concerned its a tired argument about the blind alleys and loss of possession;  yes he is frustrating lightweight and losses the ball;   but naismith and mbokani lose it far more frequently while wes loses it at the same rate as both howson and brady yet there are no moans about them,  and neither have his impact on the games outcome or create a fraction of the chances.

We have yet to win a game that Wes hasnt started & have gained just 1 point from them, score more and concede less when he and redmond play.   Wes' blind alleys lead us to points,  while howson, tettey, brady cant rouse a chance, or a win without him.   which do I prefer?

The only real problem I have with Wes is that he doesn't carry any threat in terms of running past the defence or getting into the box. Which I think is exacerbated when Mbokani is upfront as he doesn't offer much pace to get in behind.

I think if I was an opposing defender/defence I would feel quite comfortable knowing that I could see both of them infront of me

Where we come again in to the subject why havent we signed younger modern version of Wes Hoolahan in our ranks.

We look better with him, we win games with him, he is probably our highest rated player outside the club and still even us big admirers of Wes see that he has his limitations.

But back to the subject. Most likely we paid too much for Klose even if he would success here. 

As said he probably would have been cheaper in early summer or next summer. Signing player who is third choise CB is never easy in winter window.

That said he still can be worth of that money, if we stay up, but doesn't hide the fact that his price should have been lower. 

Anyway better pay a bit too much than not get deal done at all.

Well yeah, but he has most likely 2 or 3 seasons before he can be considered anywhere near premiership level if ever. Have to agree that he really looks like a player that could become worth of his weight of gold for us.

But I mean transfer that really would challenge Hoolahan's place as main playmaker. Firminho for example costed Hoffenheim 3 million euros. Coutinho was around same for Inter. Even the most talented players are in our reach if we scout well and are willing to take some risks but outside of Ola Toivonen who isnt exactly 1 to 1 replacement I can't remember any other player linked to us whose main position would be creative 10.

As we all know the transfer fee forva player can be misleading,  many players remain out our reach as their wages, sign on fees etc are well out of the clubs range.

Looking around at other transfer fees, what we paid for him looks realistic.  I severely doubt we'd have got him for less in the summer . It sounds like he'd lost his main starting role this season because of a new signing they brought in last summer, so the club were probably willing to sell him now but might not have been last summer.

Hooper is the Championship player of the month and got another goal today but we sold him for £3 million. We've seen Klose for 3 games now and I don't see much evidence he's worth more than that. That's not to say he won't come good but £8.5 million is a shed load of money for a defender and he needs to show his worth quickly if we're to avoid relegation.

Thought Bassong was top notch for most of the game. Read what West Ham were trying to do time and time again. But Klose did alright too.

As for Russell...he just does what he wants. Other players would find themselves out of favour.

Wisdom is having injury problems at least that is what is reported. Before that he already was front of Martin in that RB slot.
