Lafferty, Hernandez, Palermo

Interesting that Hull have paid £10-11 mill for Lafferty's strike partner 14 goals in 30 appearances last season, while we got Lafferty (undisclosed, but probably not quite as expensive as Hernandez  ) 11 goals in 34 appearances last season.

Premier League extravagance, a bit of good ncfc business or Hernandez is simply a miles better player???

Time will tell.....

Hernandez is a better player. Goal output is not the only factor at play. I like Lafferty, but both signings indicate only the financial disparity between Italian and English football, and the continued growth of the Championship

That demonstrates the subtleties between ability of lower premiership and upper championship players yet the contrasting disparities between the money available at either end.

From a business point of view, Hernandez is there to keep Hull in the league next year at worst which is worth over £100m. There are 13 teams basically vying for the 10 places between 8th and 20th all spending decent money and Hull will spend what they have to to ensure they are not in the bottom three. Lafferty is with us to give us the best possible chance of an instant return. While we still have the edge over our rivals, the reality is, most of them will spend far less than us simply because they don't have the clout we do at the moment.

A player who can do a job in the lower prem is worth 10 times a player who can do one in the upper championship. In reality, Hernandez isn't that much better (on paper) than Lafferty.

Hernandez was far too good for Serie B, excellent striker who I'm sure can score 10-15 goals in the Premier League. Only 24 as well so plenty of time to improve.

I thought that this thread would be about the question that's puzzled me. Palermo were promoted last season to Serie A but have sold their strikers. Either they've got the resources and opportunity to upgrade or something odd is going on there.
