Leonardo DiCaprio

Just wanted to know what people thought of him. A couple of my mates seem to think he is the greatest actor to have ever lived, which I think is massively over-rating him.

I think he's an excellent actor, who's churned out a number of fantastic performances, however he's never really put in a really memorable performance in the same way that the likes of Jack Nicholson or Tom Hanks for example have. To me it's always a case of I'm watching Leonardo DiCaprio act, rather than watching a character, which I think the very top actors are capable of doing. A big role is always safe in his hands, but he's never going to do anything exceptional with it. He's still relatively young in acting terms, plenty of time for him to do that, but for me that is why he will never be one of the 'greats'. Don't know what others think...

He's certainly come a long way from his earlier performances, and in truth I never expected him to be able to act as convincingly as he has done in some fantastic performances.

I'd fully agree that he's definitely one of the best male actors of the current generation, but wouldn't put him in the 'greatest actors ever' category just yet.
