Leopards, spots and nothing ever changes?

My wife found this on Facebook and those of you from Norwich may well know what this symbolises.

Is that area still one to be avoided?

I find stuff like this quite funny, as if you go to any big city in Britain, you'll find places 100 times worse than anywhere in Norwich!

The Larkman is hardly the Bronx

It might not be now but it was when I was a kid. They would have stolen your breath in those days.

I find it hard to think of Norwich being threatening in any way, I have honestly never felt unsafe there at all. Been to so many cities and towns where you're constantly looking over your shoulder on a night out!

True. I lived in New Zealand. And people talk of it as a great place to bring up your kids. Bull. It is one of the most violent countries in the world per capita and is another nation where gun laws are liberal.

And down here in Cornwall, population not a lot bigger than greater Norwich, violence is seen as a badge of machoness. A measure of a man's character is judged by " cor, e's a 'kin old boy". A few years back, we had to form a bit of a vigilante committee in our neighbourhood to stop the violence and vandalism from late night revellers passing through.

But in the sixties, Norwich (A Fine City) did have one blot on the landscape and that was the Larkman estate. And with this cartoon appearing, I wondered if it was still troublesome.

I remember late 50`s early 60`s the prefabs on Larkman the cinema on the corner.

Was an Earlham boy myself. Always going over there to see what i could get myself into.

I was an Earlham boy born in 1951 so we must be of a similar era. The only time I ventured to the Larkman was the Ritz cinema or the library on the edge of the woods.

My mum worked in the Ritz, always had free entry lol.

Was a member of the library too. Had one hell of a bill for over due books. (which my nan paid )
