Leroy Fer......better players at QPR this season than City last....

I didnt actually read the whole article, but apparently Leroy Fer reckons that QPR players this season are better than he played with last year at City. Looking at the league position of QPR this season to date, there really cant be much in it in my view. That said, he looks like he is putting in a bit more effort for them than he did us, so that's at least one player who is better.

He certainly gave the impression at times last season that his heart was not really in it, but perhaps it was managerial attitudes rather than quality of other players. I was always slightly surprised, however, if he was trying to use us as a doorstep to better things that he did not attempt to showcase his evident talent.

Perhaps it really was because he was new to England and our type of football.

As a player who knows what relegation looks like and  who is now with another relegation threatened team, it is a natural question for him to be asked and what else can he say?

For all the sneering that goes on about Fer especially on Twitter, let's not forget that we made over £6m profit on him in a year.  He owes us nothing.

Not much in it really apart from a few better rep players. We still had the last reminants of Lamberts team spirit here that probably evens it out.

As for Leroy, i've got nothing but praise for him really. We made £6m on his fee in one season that has enabled us to stay strong, he did alright for us despite constant injury niggles and he made me a very proud canary when he stuck one in versus the Chileans at the world cup!

Not going to read too much into it.  He's got to say something supportive of his current team.  Could he have been a little more kind/diplomatic towards his former teammates in making his comparison? Perhaps... but lifting QPR isn't necessarily slamming NCFC, and if he's put on the spot by a reporter's question then he was likely shooting from the hip and didn't think it through (or simply focused on lifting QPR).

QPR also have players like Sandro, Austin, Caulker and Taarabt, I know some of those will split opinion but I think they are a couple of transfer windows away from a very solid squad.

Would make more sense if you'd compared our best XI with their best XI, no Snodgrass for us and no Charlie Austin for them? And Hooper scored 6 times more goals than RVW so would have to go down as our best striker last season? 

Snodgrass better than Phillips, but Austin about a million times better than RVW.

As for Mutch being better than Howson, on his Cardiff form yes, on his QPR form definitely not! He's been pants for them and isn't often getting in the team.

Obviously didn't include Fer as he would be on both sides. Even so though it's very close. Obviously I am slightly biased though, and don't watch QPR particularly often, so I would say that overall QPR just edge it.

Rio Ferdinand is shot though, he lost his place in the team to an ageing Richard Dunne! 

I'd say the one thing which makes them better than our team last season is Charlie Austin. If we had Charlie Austin in our team last season perhaps we'd have scored the goals needed to stay up. Then again, perhaps Austin would have struggled in our team just like Hooper did and maybe Hooper is actually as good as Austin. Who knows. 

It's only on paper though. Wigan have got a top 6 team on paper, but are in the relegation zone, and QPR had an expensive squad full of big names the last time they got relegated. Loic Remy for example! I'd say that the odds of Fer experiencing a second consecutive relegation are probably about evens, they will be in a relegation fight all season.
