precisely that, I feel that in certain parts of the ground, people dont want to be the only person in there block singing, so they just do nothing, maybe if they just sung anyway others would join in

Maybe they all need to do a few away games, to remind them how its done!

I go to away games regularly and i bloody love the atmosphere. But my ST is in the lower river end and if i stood up and sung for 90 minutes I would be forced to sit down by stewards as i would be blocking the view of those behind me, and literally only 1% of people would join in if i was singing.

A big part of the problem is that Carrow Road is so full with ST holders it makes it incredibly difficult to move to a louder area. I know people who have spent years trying to move to the lower barclay so they can sing, but for now they have to sit in the river end in silence.

There's nothing wrong with having a lot more older fans (which we definitely do), the issue is they're so evenly spread across the ground that its hard to have one part properly allocated to people who want to stand and sing for 90 minutes. Until safe standing becomes legal, which it will eventually, the club needs to do more to get vocal people in the same area. The seating needs to be freshened up.

Sorry Suffolk but I don't agree with all of that. I sit in lower river end too, yes there are a lot of older supporters but there are also quite a few that do join in with songs, not necessarily all the time but at big moments in matches. It isn't literally 1% that join in, and your mates don't have to sit in silence at all, perhaps that's part of the problem. Sometimes people post about the river end and say that they are given hard stares for singing which is a complete load of rubbish in my opinion.

Fenway i would hardly call occasionally going "yellows, yellows" after an attack as "joining in with the songs".

And being given hard stares is not rubbish at all, from my experiences. There's a bloke near me who tries to make noise the entire game and he is completely hated by those sitting around him for it

The simple fact is the majority in the River End want to sit quietly and enjoy the game from their seats, and there's nothing wrong with that. There's not a single ground in the country that has all areas that are loud. My point was that it's almost impossible to move to louder areas if you want to stand and shout all game!

This is the thing, if he's just trying to start songs there shouldn't be a problem, but it could be similar to a bloke that sits a few rows behind me, that he shouts complete b0ll0x most of the time. Let's be honest, some of the stuff sung in the Barclay is pretty cringeworthy isn't it and trying to sing about shooting burglars won't get much participation in the river end will it ?It could also be that he's hated for other reasons ?, does he smell ?

we all sit near an idiot or two if we're honest who you just want to slap for shouting bollox, but I cant see any reason people should be afraid to sing to support there team, one thing worth noting though is that whether its the lower barclay or away games, most of the songs start from the back of the stands and work there way forward, so we just need to get most of the singers in the ground sat/stood at the back of their stands and get the party started

Good discussion this morning on MOTD2 extra about atmosphere atCarrow Road.  The two who were there, (Kilbane and a woman journo), both talked about the intensity of our support, and how the players seemed to feed off it.  Compared us to Leicester.  Perhaps we don't appreciate what we can achieve, when the chips are down.  Certainly something special is happening at the  moment.

I haven't seen Carrow road rocking so much, for quite a long time. The fans did themselves proud yesterday!

Have to say, for all the stick they get, I think the clappers do have an effect. I sit towards the front in the Jarrold and usually it's pretty quiet there, some fans don't even sing On The Ball City or clap at any point in the game, but those same fans do seem to use the clappers, whereas in the normal way they wouldn't be clapping. The atmosphere at times yesterday was probably as good if not better than at any point this season. Although to be fair our supporters have been generally pretty good this season, and have got behind the team even when we've not been doing well, which I don't think you could say about the Hughton seasons.

I am glad they didn't play We Will Rock You though yesterday :D

Lots of thought and effort went into Saturday. The clappers have been used before but  at least crank up the volume. The playing of the 1930 version of On The Ball City as the players came out was great as was the use of Adrian Forbes as PA announcer as he was much more animated than the usual guy, and you might have noticed that several players made a point of geeing up the crowd before kick off.
