I was most surprised to see Mr Jarvis pictured on the USA tour.
Surely better to take a youngster if there's a space free rather than a player who's career has reached its end.
I can't imagine any renewed contract for Jarvis at City or anywhere as he seems allergic to grass.
He must be planning retirement at the end of his contract.

I think he is actually close to being fit again. Now we know there have been many false dawns in this respect, but we are paying for him, so if we can get something out of him at the back end of the season, then it makes sense.

Mmm, I see Chris Lakey has vented his spleen on the subject too. I can't see it, not after all this time out, psychologically he's going to struggle to commit.
Just my opinion, I thought he did well for us before injuries, can't see it now though.

Its a difficult subject, as I can see both sides of the argument. Do you want our football club to be callous and adopt the "That football player is broken, put him in the bin" approach? Also, at the end of the day, he is in contract, as much as people bump their gums, there is no situation where you can just cancel that. But I do understand the frustration of fans that we are paying him decent money for nothing in return. But what underlines it all is we gave him a medical and awarded him a contract, and it isn't his fault he is injured, and I am sure he would much rather be on the pitch than doing physio. I tore my cruciate ligament twice, so trust me, I know how shit physio is!

Realistically if he really is close to being able to play football again he's not going to be good enough for us is he.... not going to have the stamina to play our high pressing game, but I'd be happy for him if he manages to get himself out on loan to say a Southend or Lincoln in advance of him being released in the summer?

I suspect that he doesn't want his career to end like this and he'd want to try and squeeze a season out somewhere. Actually a USL team like the Tampa Bay Rowdies or something would probably be his best bet.... less fixtures, less intensity, warm weather better for joints etc. That or the Aussie league.

Hoolahan should do the same.

We do have a duty of care towards every player on our books irrespective of how much money they have in the bank, and that means giving him every opportunity to salvage something out of this situation.

That makes sense actually, couple of seasons in the states would suit Jarvis. Probably why he's there to be fair.
He does have an academy for kids in UK though, although I expect that could be made to work.
