McNally's Appointment?

Thinking about it, the difference between the way Alex Neil's appointment has been handled compared to the protracted search across the whole of Europe (!!) to find Neil Adams has to be suggest that this is v much McNallys appointment?

No real mention of Delia or Michael or anyone else on the board, nor long-drawn out interview processes with us being linked with all the usual suspects. Does anyone else suspect that Neil Adams appointment was a committee type decision led by the board, and that this is McNally taking control again?

I'd say this was a McNally led decision given his time in Scotland, but Neil had the unanimous approval of the Board.

McNally was outvoted on Adams. This is his appointment 100%

Stated as unanimous and this time I believe them when they pronounce him as their no 1 choice (delivered in time,   no going to option 2 or 3 having been rebuffed).

Excuse me if I sound cynical, it isn't, just shock as I cannot believe all this has happened, particularly in such a short time.

I played golf on Sunday and moaned about the Preston game with other football fanatics. Played on Wednesday with similar fanatics and said that Adams had gone and it would probably be Phelan.

What do I tell them Sunday? How do I tell them who Alex Neil is?

Neil has been lined up for some time should Adams fail. Perhaps you could tell them that as he's now the manager of the team you support that you are 100% behind him. After all, that's all that really matters. I've never felt a need to justify anything to do with Norwich City to my mates.

I don't have to justify anything to my mates either. But I was trying to say that considering I had never heard of him until Wednesday evening, I will have some explaining to do, background and history, on someone they won't have heard of either. Lambert, Hughton and Adams needed no introduction.

Tell them that Sir Alex Ferguson was someone who strongly advocated for him when the club was doing due diligence and taking on board footballing opinions (which is what SkySports said). Tell them that he has a 60% win rate, led a young squad to promotion on a shoestring budget, playing good, fearless football, and has beaten Celtic at Celtic Park, and beaten their local rivals 4-0 and 5-0, on the way to having a newly promoted team sitting 3rd in the SPL when everyone thought they would be whipping boys this season.

McNally all but said that it was his appointment in the press conference the other day. Although he did say it was a unanimous decision, he also said that he already had his eye on Neil, and knew a fair bit about him from his time in Scotland.

Very much doubt that he did know a fair bit about him in Scotland considering he left Celtic in 2004 when Alex Neil was a 23 year old Barnsley player!

Well, that just shows what an excellent eye McNally has for a manager then

Can't remember what McNally said in the press conference, but it was something to do with his time in Scotland being one of the reasons why he thought Neil was a good choice.

I think it's because he still has plenty of contacts in the Scottish game - Alex is very highly rated up north and everyone knew it was only a matter of time till a bigger job came his way - just maybe nobody expected it to be this one.
