Lets test that inference - what would you cite as 'The most important victory in Norwich City history'?

I'd probably go with Pompey away when we gained promotion last time, this current squad wouldn't of been assembled had we not gained promotion to the premiership that time, so beating boro at wembley likely wouldn't of happened without it

That was the one that came instantly to my mind as well. Perhaps the Colchester result was the most important loss? Without such a heavy opening day defeat so much might not have happened.

That said though - we started 2 seasons ago with a good opening day and got relegated. We started League One, last season and Hughtons first season with opening day set-backs, yet had a successful season.

Maybe we should be hoping for a loss tomorrow?!

I'd be inclined to argue the Bayern game (even though it was 2 legs), because I think that's the first time since I started supporting Norwich, where we seemed to get true national acclaim and appreciation for what we'd done and how good of a side we had at the time. We also made history with that result (one that can't ever be beaten since Bayern have now moved), and the look on Matthaus face was priceless.

Lets test that inference - what would you cite as 'The most important victory in Norwich City history'?

Obviously that has to be "fan under 45".

There have been many but I would think in terms of finally turning this club into a top division one, I would go for November 75 when we had returned to the 1st Division quickly after relegation but were looking short of what was needed to stay up. In fact a quick return to the second tier looked likely.

Against all odds, we went to Anfield, arguably the best team in Europe in those days, and won 3-1. And that really established us as a club that deserved and got respect not only from the football world but also from the media. And we went from strength to strength.

And the club that exists today is only possible from what happened throughout the 70's.

The play-off final victory was certainly the most important victory in my lifetime. Whilst the Portsmouth game where we sealed promotion was obviously massive, there was still 2(?) more games after that, so even if we slipped up at Pompey we could still have clinched promotion. The PO final was one game, and if we slipped up we lost everything, but fortunately we didn't
