There seem to be no comments on the player yet. What do posters think of the signing?
From all accounts he is an aggressive defender very much like Tettey, and elsewhere there was talk of the two of them playing together, and being somethings of a rock in the defence.
Otherwise, are they competition for each other, with the new man seeming to have no dodgy knees and thus available in busy times when Tettey is struggling. What are the implications for Johnson? Mulumbu is reckoned to be a very effective passer of the ball, and Johnson is less efficient, so the latter may have something of a challenge, despite his ability to score goals.
Is there room for creative players like Howson, Dorrans and Wes, if Redmond takes one of the four midfield spots, there will be only one left if the two "hard men" are in the midfield. Or will Wes occupy the the number ten role and count as one of the two up front? We have already noted how
many midfielders we have in the squad - I haven't mentioned Thompson, Vadis, Andreu and O'Neill. Add to these the Murphy lads and any new left winger we may sign, and some will be bench warmers.
We are well covered for injury in the midfield, and Neil will try to keep them all match fit, to enable him to select particular midfielders to face the club opposing us. He may have a selection choice problem, but I suspect he will relish it.
