My one wish for today

It's fairly simple really. No homophobic chanting.

The last time Brighton visited Carrow Road their last visit gave rise to chants from the home faithful, such as, "does your boyfriend know you're here" and "we can see you holding hands".

To some, this is considered "harmless banter", to others it's homophobic abuse.

It's worth remembering that Justin Fashanu played for both clubs. I'm old enough to have been standing right down the front of the Barclay when he scored "that goal" against Liverpool.

There can be no excuse for homophonic abuse, simply don't do it. Just don't do it out of respect for Justin.

He was, and always will be "One of our own".

Unfortunately I wouldn't bet against it. And given recent publicity, it will make a nice juicy news story, if it does.

I have always thought, over the years, that the Norwich supporters have never really achieved much originality and have been embarrassed by some of the older chants they have resorted to. Even our own OTBC is sung incorrectly at times and the tempo increases at such a rate that it is incoherent at the end.

I fear there will be many idiots practising homophobic chants in preparation for today's visitors, despite the club's plea to not do it. And if there is a waiting list for seats. the club has no reason not to ban them should they be identified.

It's bound to happen, the hilarious* "does your boyfriend know you're here?" etc etc. - the thing is, a minority of supporters of most clubs sing this (and worse) when Brighton come to town.  Some of the Crystal Palace supporters songs are particularly interesting... not that I really understand why Brighton and Palace is a "derby", but anyway.  The idea that a group of supporters would think twice because of an early eighties footballer is nice, but naive.  They are unlikely to think at all.
