Just doing a bit of reading on the Liverpool Echo and there's a bit of Martinez raving about Naismith as a number 9.

Will back up what my fellow Evertonian has said in that you've signed a very decent player, but at the same time it's good business for us as we've got £8.5mil for a player that wasn't featuring in the squad.

Naismith is great playing as a second-striker, but his versatility was his downfall in his time at us I feel, as he was often moved out wide.

Personally, he was always at his best in the big games for us, as he tracks back and is always the first to then press up-field.

However, his ability on the ball isn't always the best, so in games where we dominated possession, he could become a bit of a liability. I always preferred him coming on as a substitute in these games if we needed a goal with half an hour/20 minutes to go, as he is superb at picking up little pockets of space in the box and is a natural finisher in that respect.

Think he'll do well for you guys, and as long as he doesn't score against us, then I wish him all the best (especially against the S***e this weekend!).

I think in the current market the fee is sensible.  How much did Mings go for ? But if you look at Johnson to Derby for £6m and Grabban at £7m, it's not silly.  Obviously his age plays a part but they must be thinking he can play at top level for 3-4 years to make it worth doing the deal.

Also of course, staying up is worth that extra money next year, so if we do stay up and either Naismith or Klose contributes to that in a decent way, it will be money well spent. 

Looking back at City last time when we went down in Hughton's last season, there was a real make-do feel about things in January with bringing in Yobo, trying out Kamara but not signing him, etc etc, and I think this was part of the malaise the team suffered from January onwards (although just part of it) - a lack of inspirational signings.  Certainly we don't have that excuse now !

Agree, he's a much better player.

Grabban is more of a natural striker, but if Naismith is played in his correct position for you guys he'd do brilliantly.

He's not a No.10, as he doesn't have the passing ability, but he does have a real knack of popping up in the right places in the penalty area - and after Lukaku I'd say he was the second-best finisher at Everton.

Great guy to have in a team because of his work rate and overall quality.

Just can't see him as a starter and with that price,experience and status it is hard to see him signed as a tactical  sub where he would fit perfectly.

Cant see him as a solo striker. Not as a playmaker and if he plays in his favorite position it is hard to see us making enough chances to make our attack  effective.

At the end it can thought be that his never tiring legs can bring something more in our game which make us tick again, but Hoolahan is quite good running around when we don't have a ball even when he has played higher up to pitch and still our midfield and defence have struggled to get the ball bring it forward and create something out of it.

Right wing might be a place  he could shine as Redmond hasn't brought anything in our game and Howson and VOO are out of their position.

Definently goog signing as a player, but is his role and price right that remains to be seen.
