Need for a striker on loan

With Grabban out, there has been some debate about getting cover with one ot two names mentioned. It seems to me that this is quite an urgent need and we seem to not be resolving this. With only 8 games to go it looks like we aren't getting this sorted although there are a few days left. We may still get someone but the need has been there for a few weeks now. I know they are a precious commodity, but to help us over the line, the lack of sorting this seems puzzling?

Nah, I can't see the club pinning all of their hopes on Loza and Morris. Pretty sure they will loan somebody in.

It is easy to say that we need to bring in a striker on loan, but much more difficult to suggest one. 

Danny Graham and James Wilson are the only players I can think of who may be available.

I did start a thread asking for peoples ideas, and there weren't really any forthcoming. Danny Graham isn't exactly likely to be a revelation of Crouch/Huckerby proportions, may grab us a couple of goals off the bench perhaps?

Forest and Middlesbrough are trying to take Sam Gallagher on loan from Southampton. He's 19 and has scored 2 goals in 20 games. 

If that's all that's available then perhaps we really would be better off sticking with Loza.

I seem to remember that one of Gallagher's goals was against us as well wasn't it? When they beat us 4-2 and Elmander of all people also scored.

Can't Andreu play as a striker anyway?

I do think that we need to bring someone in, but as CB said, finding them is the tricky part. Would quite like Wilson here from Man.Utd, and Graham I suppose could do a job, but there's no options that you know for a fact could come in and score a few goals (like Darren Bent has done at Derby).

I don't really see the reasons for binging someone in, we have Jerome and Hooper at the moment, and they don't both always start, so you have the option of one of them coming off the bench if needed, this gives Morris and Loza the chance to get 20 minutes or so off the bench if we do start both Hooper and Jerome, but lets not forget that with Johnson, Howson, Wes and Dorrans in the side we have plenty of goals from midfield too, plus I dont think Grabban is out for the season, I'd expect to see him back in the next few weeks. Lets not rush into bringing someone in, not to mention someone that comes here on loan is going to expect to play, and I don't think there's many loan options out there that are going to take Jerome or Hooper out of the side at the moment

Respectively disagree dj. Morris is not good enough for me. Loza is full of enthusiasm but a little over exuberant. Both will not make NCFC first teamers as we don't do youth coming through unless you have to I.e. League 1 season.

Not really convinced of you midfield argument either. Dorrans has been average for me. Howson gets the odd goal as does Wes. BJ is really a DM but yes has had a decent season in front of goal. So mixed for me. Hooper has been mixed so Jerome is our main threat.

Dare I say it but could Becchio come into the reckoning? Proven striker at this level but obviously has had a wretched time career wise at Norwich.

A better suggestion than Danny Graham, Surgeryman. He has struggled for goals with Southampton, but could well suit our style of play and offer different qualities than Jerome or Hooper.

I agree to some point, but youth rarely gets a chance anymore really when you get to Champ/prem level. The clubs and fans want instant success on the whole. Look at the disasterous Brentford performance. We had young midfield players like McGrandles and Mageehan but Neil went for Whittaker. McClaren debuted a young guy last week who did OK, but that tends to be an exception. You'll get the odd few minutes a sub that may show a glimpse of something like Loza but they won't be given a start. What's happened to Korey Smith as an example. Murphys, Loza. Morris, McGeehan will go the same way most likely.

I think that Hughton made a huge mistake last season by not getting another striker in January like Jordan Rhodes who knew where the goal was. Even 4 or 5 goals would have kept us up. It's fine margins. It would have been well worth £10 mill to have stayed up.

This time, it is again fine margins and just a goal or two could make all the difference. I would commit to Rhodes or Gestede or similar because they could tip us over the line and worse case, would be good for next season in the Champ. I really don't see how we would lose if we spent big now to loan with purchase in the summer

We've abused the emergency loan window this way with Dorrans already, so agree. Only thing is it might disrupt the team in the way Newcastle said Tino Asprilla did (even though he didnt). Would have to be very carefully judged
