By that I mean they were a club without an identity before he took over, a blank slate. He's the one who's implemented this dutch style possession game and I have no doubt that once he leaves they'll stick to that. Much like how Martinez started it off at Swansea, and the style has continued 4 other managers.
He's also responsible for a lot of the improvement in their youth set up iirc, I read a big article about how much he loves the dutch systems at Ajax etc and how thats his model for management I'll try to dig it out.

Karl Robinson would be Lambertesque. Young, hungry and a good track record in a lower division. Plays attractive football and has a good win percentage. In fact better stats than Lambert had before he joined us. Would seem to fit the boards vision for football.
But we have an additional factor of needing to also find someone who can form a team with Phelan and Holt. Given that it would not be a shock for Mike Phelan to be appointed.

Fine by me, I was happy enough watching the football Adams was serving up. Chris Hughton's tenure at our club has permanently changed my priorities.
I'd rather see us try to do things *the right way* and fail than become a boring Prem makeweight.

No that would not be OK because targets would not have been achieved. However Paul Lambert had never got a team promoted before us. Teams punching above their weight was the strapline he came with.
Lambert was not an earth shattering appointment at the time and look what we think of him now. If it were to be Karl Robinson it would probably be an appointment greeted in the same way.
Also as a team not exactly firing on all cylinders in the championship we need to be realistic about who we might attract.

Just looked at the list on Sky bet. Think I would take Phelan or Robinson from that.
Phelan with Culverhouse as assistant might be interesting and a very Norwich style appointment! After scouring the world first of course.

We need to get away from appointing a manager who has played for us. This Norwich way wins is very little.
Avoid Sherwood, Crook, Culverhouse rest et al. It's no better than NA.
Laudrup could be interesting but you can speculate all you like, Phelan will get it and that links to my first point unfortunately. He has no managerial experience in reality.

Those 'next manager' lists always contain some strange names. They seem to have three or four realistic names and then fill the lists with random unemployable people who simply won't get the job.
A bookies is happy to take my money at 25/1 for Patrick Kluivert, but they aren't offering odds on (example) Simon Grayson or Mark Cooper, who would be more likely!
Do they basically make all their money from the people who take a wild punt on the random names such as Nolberto Solano at 40/1?

I wonder if his response would be the same if Brighton hadn't been in the relegation zone, a reasonable settlement with the club tends to smooth problems like that over.
However, if the board intend to appoint by the weekend that does point to either Phelan or someone who is currently out of work, so Rosler or Adkins I guess.

Why? He managed a double promotion with Southampton, just like Lambert, and was sacked with them outside of the relegation zone in the Premier League!

He has also managed Reading since then without getting them promoted.
To be far though, he did manage three promotions from League One in addition to the Championship promotion.
