I'm excited by this, more so the more I have read up about him. 

None of the names mentioned were particularly exciting me, but I would have been happy with Rosler or Robinson or a similar lower league success story signing.

This looks like a man we are looking to employ precisely for his reputation of not taking anything from players and demanding commitment.

Do we think Redmonds tweets will be allowed under this guy?

It's no secret that the players have underperformed this year, as much as I liked Adams and wanted him to succeed, he did not seem to be dealing with the egos particularly well. Was he not appointed partly because the board were impressed with his handling of disciplinary issues? Seems like Adams unwillingness to get in some of those ego's faces may be part of the reason he lost his job. We certainly seem to have gone shopping for a guy who will do exactly that.

I'm of the opinion there should be no battle of wills between player and manager, as soon as thats allowed to happen the manager is already undermined. Players have too much power in the modern game because managers take all the blame and players know a new one will be in post within a year or 18 months tops. 

The best managers don't allow those battles of will to develop. Look at SAF, as soon as any player challenged him, didn't matter if it was Beckham, they were gone. "The minute a Manchester United player thought he was bigger than the manager, he had to go," he wrote. "David thought he was bigger than Alex Ferguson. That was the death knell for him."

I'm wary of this appointment but an aggressive and passionate manager will be a nice change after two Mr Nice Guy's.

Some people may be interested to know that Hamilton's two preferred formations this season have been 4-1-4-1 and 4-4-1-1, so there is probably a good chance that we'll see him play wide midfielders at Norwich?

A lot of Hamilton fans seem to be very worried that he will bring a centre midfielder named Tony Andreu with him, who I gather is there best player.

Has anyone considered the board may be interviewing Alex Neil with a view to offering him the assistant manager role?

What if it's going to be Phelan with Neil as his right-hand man?

And what if Neil is only getting money placed on him because he's the only obvious leak?

If you have proved yourself as a manager, you've had good success in your brief career and your thought of as up and coming, why would you reduce yourself to assistant to someone who has never managed? Especially when its not for a PL team.

Having watched a few videos of them playing tonight Andreu looks a cut above most of their other players, some great touches and an eye for goal, 13 so far this season. Wes competition?

There's rumours Celtic and Wigan are after him, but surely if his manager came here we would be favourites?

Hendrie is the other player getting rave reviews and expected to move in the window, Celtic and west ham interested apparently, he's a left back.

Andreu's 12 goals in 18 SPL games is certainly impressive for a midfielder and I agree that he could be a very good addition to our squad. At 26 he's in the prime of his career as well.

Hi, guys - I'm an Accies supporter who enjoyed a couple of visits to Carrow Road in the 80's when based in Norfolk for work.  Alex Neil has done a great job with Accies, against some stiff odds.  He took over on a temp basis when our previous man, Billy Reid, left having stagnated for a year or so (March 13) - I was a Reid fan, but in retrospect he should have gone earlier.  Alex Neil took over and immediately the team seemed re-energised, and put together a fine run of 7 or so games to the end of the season.  A few of us doubted that he would be appointed on a permanent basis (lacking experience and very young), but with such strong run he ended up as the obvious choice.

  Last season we saw the team play some fine, high tempo football, mainly with a bunch kids (you don't win anything with...?) supported by a few more experienced players.  We ran an expensive (by Scottish standards) Dundee team close to the automatic promotion place and then faced Falkirk in a play off semi which led to a 2 leg final against Hibs.  We lost the 1st leg at home 0-2 - one of the few times I've seen an Alex Neil team freeze - but were a revelation in the away leg, playing then-perm league Hibs off the park and winning 2-0, prior to settling the tie with a penalty victory.

This year, with a marginally strengthened squad, but still mainly the youngsters who got us promotion, we have seen the best performance by an Accies team since the 1930s.  It has been astonishing, by our standards.  High tempo, in your face, highly skilled adventurous football - not what we are used to.  We have scored lots of goals, many high quality, and the players seem to have excelled under Neil's leadership.  

As a club, we know our place in the great scheme of things and we know we will not hold on to players (or managers) who have a chance to shine elsewhere.  AN was very important in the development of James McCarthy (Everton) and James McArthur (Crystal Palace) - both of whom have achieved much since their moves south.  I really do hope Alex does well for you - and you can be sure we will all be watching progress.  He goes with our thanks for his 9 years at Accies and with our very best wishes for the future.  Enjoy.

To be honest, from all genuine Accies fans it's been 100% positive. A couple of incredibly tedious Ipswich / even more tedious Norwich fans made a couple of fake accounts on another forum claiming to be Accies fans - telling all us NCFC fans that you play simple hoofball and barely score any goals.

Thankfully, results alone disproved that!

Thanks Diogg...nice to have confirmation of what I essentially thought.

As I say, as a NCFC fan who grew up in East Ayrshire and follow Killie I have seen quite a bit of the Accies under Neil, and have been massively impressed by what he has achieved with your club. (Although how the hell you managed to lose at Rugby Park is beyond me!)

I think this could be a great appointment. As is keep saying though, my only concern is that the City fans have been somewhat divided over our last two managers and I don't think he will necessarily get a lot of patience if early results don't go his way.

And it looks as if NCFC have done its research. Apparently we have had scouts at every Accy match this season, originally to watch a couple of their young players, but when it was noticed how effective Neil's management style was, we continued to follow the team's performances. Looks as if we know what we are doing. Got this from something sourced by a reliable Twitter feed.

Diogg has just made me feel about 1000% better about this appointment, really sounds like he has got them punching well above their weight, just like Lambert did here (in retrospect, when you realise that he had League One players performing in the Championship, and Championship players performing in the Premier League). 

I love the fact that this place is being found by supporters of other teams recently, something like 5 non-Norwich fans in the past week, that was something which the Pink'un had and we didn't.....

Did Gary Holt achieve good success? He didn't win promotion and being 3rd in the Scottish Championship with a small club is hardly the same as being 3rd in the SPL and beating Celtic on your way. 

Holt has done well so far but it's hardly the same level of proven success. He was also pretty vocal he only came for Adams (probably giving credence to the rumours he will be returning to management) so he had an affinity with both manager and club. Neil has no such ties to Norwich or Phelan and thats who we were talking about.
