What happened yesterday does bear the mark

Of apportioning of some blame,

For what has not been working on the park

But seeing him leave´s still a shame

Whatever reasoning does lie behind

It´s never good to break a team,

And the start of the season, all was fíne

As we built up our head of steam

Whether this will solve our current malaise

Is certainly open to doubt,

But as is the current fashion these days

It will end with someone pushed out

The finer details we´ve not yet been told

And doubtful we ever will be,

But I just hope losing one from the fold

Is part of a larger Plan B

Just at the moment it would also seem

As if Adams´ berth is secure,

Unless the Plan B includes us to beam

A new boss down as a part cure

Adams could then move one place to his right

To Robson´s now vacated spot,

All this conjecture of course, but it might

Help stir up in the melting pot

Otherwise we can only all assume

That soon a brand new right-hand man,

Will be announced, very shortly to loom

Nicely put, RBF, but I don't think that we should assume that Robson is a scapegoat. There may be reasons for his sacking that we simply don't know about, but personally I trust McNally and the Board to not make a knee-jerk reaction. I also don't think that NA will be 'demoted' in order to bring a new manager in, so the likely possibility is a new, experienced coach like Ian Culverhouse or Mike Phelan or some other such.

Rick - I´d certainly like to know whether he was pushed, cajoled, or he himself asked to leave, before jumping to too many conclusions, but personally it does still smack of some action being taken, just to appease the current situation.

The terminology used in the press release does not suggest Robson took the initiative. Contract terminated generally means sacked. "Have accepted the resignation" would be the terminology otherwise.

Pure speculation on my part but, either, there was a fall out between Adams and Robson, or, alternatively, it was put to Adams in terms that things weren't working out, changes were needed, so Adams wanted to tweak the support set up. Something had to give and it was Robson who went.

The fact that we haven´t already replaced him with someone new and better, does seem to suggest that this came out of the blue, which is to me, more worrying, and smacks of knee-jerk and desperation.

My thoughts all along, I know it is only guesswork but the speed of the announcement (obviously discussed and sorted on the Saturday night or Sunday), the terseness of the statement, the "immediate effect" and the lack of "by mutual consent". An HR friend tells me that in the real world (but not football) this usually indicates a misconduct issue.
