Probably is but I think he will start. We need a good beginning if possible just to get under their skin and maybe alter their plans a little. And I see Zabaleta and Silva are missing for them so at least we have dropped to Defcon 3.

Given the attacking array of talent Man city have and the goals they are scoring, just as well our defence is so well organised and rock solid this season....oh....no, wait a minute...oops!

No way can Redmond play in this to my mind....we are so easy to attack down our right hand side that whoever plays there needs much more defensive cover or we will get ripped to shreds down that flank.

I would personally like to see Declan Rudd start in goal but that won't happen, so if Bassong is really injured I expect team to be

Ruddy

Whittaker, Bennett, Martin, Olsson

tettey Mulumbu

Howson, Dorrans,  Brady

Jerome

that back four, much as I love them individually, is going to need some sort of a miracle to keep out MC I am afraid...please prove me wrong lads!

Hi Canaries, Blue City fan here in peace.

Just joined to wish your travelling fans a safe and enjoyable (result excepted) day out in Manchester. We have recently dispatched Newcastle, Bournemouth and Palace at home but also lost to West Ham and made heavy weather of beating Watford so anything is, possible.

Whatever, let's have a good, clean battle and best wishes to Norridge for the rest of the season.

The consensus among almost everyone is that we're going to get completely and utterly thrashed today, maybe with Bony and de Bruyne both scoring hat tricks. Having conceded 6 against Newcastle and possibly with our first choice centre backs missing it's difficult to argue against that. Anything less that a 4 goal margin would be a moral victory.

So it's something like

Ruddy
Martin - Bennett - Bassong - Olsson
Mulumbu - Tettey
Jarvis - Howson - Brady
Jerome

It's the team I'd have picked except I'd have picked our best right back whereas AN has, of course, gone for Captain Undroppable.

Yup, easily our best.

Not that I've seen Russ play the position in ages.

I concur that Whittaker is a better RB than Martin, having been to the last three games.

I thought Russ only played the position once in the last few games, the one I didn't watch.

Says a lot really that Alex Neil would rather play left footed Robbie Brady as a right back than Whittaker or Martin.
Alex Neil hinted that we had an unknown player who needed a late fitness test,  it looks like that could be Whittaker?

Clearly AN rates Whittaker highly so that's probably the reason. His lack of speed could be a factor too though.

Much better than I expected. Defensively we're doing a sound job here. Bassong in particular is having a very good game, and Bennett is looking solid as well. Martin though is looking a bit weaker than the others, that said he's not doing terribly. Brady is looking solid at right back, and is also a real threat going forward. Mulumbu and Tettey have also protected the back 4 really well, although Mulumbu does look slightly rusty. Jerome is doing as well as he can really considering how little of the ball he's had. We've even had a couple of good chances, one Jarvis should've done better with.

Only thing I would say is we are giving Yaya Toure far too much time on the ball to pick a pass. I understand we want to keep our formation but if we allow him to keep picking the chances as he is then it could come back to punish us. Encouraging first half though.
