Much better than I expected. Defensively we're doing a sound job here. Bassong in particular is having a very good game, and Bennett is looking solid as well. Martin though is looking a bit weaker than the others, that said he's not doing terribly. Brady is looking solid at right back, and is also a real threat going forward. Mulumbu and Tettey have also protected the back 4 really well, although Mulumbu does look slightly rusty. Jerome is doing as well as he can really considering how little of the ball he's had. We've even had a couple of good chances, one Jarvis should've done better with.

Only thing I would say is we are giving Yaya Toure far too much time on the ball to pick a pass. I understand we want to keep our formation but if we allow him to keep picking the chances as he is then it could come back to punish us. Encouraging first half though.
Good call Din.

Redmond on for Jarvis - suffering from that knock maybe?

Now that we are 1-0 down we may as well take a defender off for Grabban and give it a go...

Time to drop Ruddy. He's done that too many times this season - panicked and run out and got the team into trouble.

It is a mistake by Ruddy, but also he had nowhere to go as Tettey blocked his route to clear it, so he just stopped, Tettey should of probably just launched it out for a corner before Ruddy came charging out

Decent attempt and as they say, something to build on.

Buggered it up but we weren't bad. A win can't be too far away.

Again, like the look of Bennett and Mulumbu. Also like the look of this formation, will be good to see it against somebody a bit more in our league.

Ruddy needs to be dropped, now. Not good enough from a first choice goalkeeper of any Premier League club to be making as many silly mistakes as him. He's effectively lost us 2 points here today. No blame attached to Martin, for whom it is a shame, as he had a very impressive 2nd half.

Performance-wise though I'm really pleased. Neil got the set-up bang on, and all 3 centre backs, Martin, Bennett and Bassong had great games. The main frustration though obviously is that we conceded 2 completely avoidable goals, the first one Bennett should be doing better with, other than that though I thought he did well again. We genuinly posed a threat going forward as well, and once we got the equaliser I was actually confident we'd see it out. Brady was excellent yet again despite being played on the right, and Tettey and Mulumbu looked great together. Jerome was also impressive, and deserved his goal for all the hard work he put in against one of, if not the, best defence in the league.

Disappointing result but there's reason for a lot of encouragement after that, and hopefully we can build on this now and put the run of bad performances behind us. As I said though earlier, it's time to give Rudd a chance, Ruddy is costing us too many points right now.

be interesting to see if we go with that formation again, seemed to work quite well but we have to remember that we were playing the best team in the league so we were always likely to have to change things up a bit, also we lost Martin today to suspension so he'll be unavailable for the next game anyway, leaving us with only Bassong and Bennett in the center, guess that means those that want Martin to be left out will get their wish next weekend

Yeah, it was his error for the goal. Still think he and Bassong are the way forward.
