Yep, kind of feels like pre-season but without the transfers.I am detecting apathy
Marked this as a game I was going to go to (relatively easy one for me). Decided to touch up the living room walls I painted at the weekend instead. I'll stop short of actually watching the paint dry.
I think we should just be blooding a few kids now. Maddison, Godfrey, Thompson (if they are all fit?).
Perhaps give Michael Turner a game, just for a laugh.

I really feel no one cares about this game, or the rest of the season now, It's on TV and i'm working, but not bothered in the slightest I can't see it, really cant see anything positive from this one, Huddersfield for my money are the best side I've seen a Carrow Road this season and a draw there would be a miracle, plus they need the win to keep their hopes of automatic alive after losing to Burton at the weekend, I'll check my phone later to see what the score was but I expect it will say something like 2-0 to Huddersfield

How exactly did McGovern land this gig? There is a reason why he came from a club where the average weekly wage is about £800 a week. I bet you could find better keepers in League Two.
He's gone from earning less than your typical Electrician to somehow being picked above John Ruddy at club who were in the worlds richest league last season.
This season could have been Declan Rudd's chance to finally nail down this shirt with a full season wearing it, he's easily the best keeper on our books these days.
Not that goalkeeper is our only problem position of course, I'm beginning to wake up to the fact that Tettey is either past it or has just been massively over rated for ages and has actually been stealing a living since he got here. He doesn't seem to stop much at all in that anchor position, which would be fine if he could get on the ball more and dictate the tempo - which he can't.
Gary O'Neil was a better ball winner, and Dorrans can do that Carrick type role. Has Tettey put in a single man of the match performance this season? He's sh*t.
Wildschut has actually looked half decent tonight though and got on the ball a bit more. Not £7m worth of decent, but much better than I've seen from him before in a yellow shirt.

Tired of saying this, but genuinely pathetic away from home once again. I would like to say the sooner this season ends the better but I honestly don't trust the board to sort us out for next season or appoint someone who can. Realistically for next season if we want to compete at the top level we're gonna need a complete overhaul. Pinto to be honest is the only defender who deserves to stay. Players like Wildschut and Naismith, who we spent big money on under Alex Neil, have been dogsh*t, and from the list of managers that are available none of them are hardly inspiring. Embarassing really the state of us at the moment.

Even if we go and appoint Heckingbottom, which I'd quite like us to do, it would be really annoying that they'd not done that in December or early January when he could have brought Hourihane and Winnall in January on the cheap.

I don't even know where to start, but I'll put it in bullet points.
- McGovern is *bleep*.
- We had to rely on too many players tonight who know they won't be here next season. Martin and Bennett showed that tonight.
- Howson was quiet, no dominance in midfield means the number 10 is feeding off scraps.
- The system was worked out long ago, we are reliant on attacking through our fullbacks, which makes zero sense when we have to play two fullbacks with zero pace. We get caught out so many times down the flanks and overloaded, and Tettey's only answer is to foul the player.
- We have basically bought players to play one system.
- This summer is huge.

Whittaker actually had a better game as a right footed left back than Martin did at right back.
Martin just isn't Championship anymore. Perhaps Peterborough will take him on a season long loan next season? Probably still cut it as a League 1 centre back.

Last night was amply highlighted why we need all of our current centre backs disposed of this summer, incl the captain and bennett.
Whittaker was far from the worst, esp given the quality Huddersfield have down that flank. Naismith worked had but ineffectively to try and stem the flow showing why Maddison did not start - a rare right decision from Irvine for me.
Need to call out just how porous Tettey and howson were; didnt disrupt their midfield, provide a shield for the back four or even get the ball to pritchard (who at least did look dangerous the very few occasions he had the ball). That part of the pitch has been woeful this year.

For all Howson's talents he doesn't half go missing in pretty much every game which we struggle to dominate.
Big highlights for me :
- Alex Neil and others really managed to screw up recruitment this summer, and last, evidently.
- Irvine's interview speaks volumes. Doesn't want to be here himself, is doing the club a favour and seems concerned we've not moved things further forward by now.
- What was the point in the board sacking AN when they did? IF they knew they were going to build a long-term structure it would have been much more logical to leave AN in place till the end of the season. The alternative was to obviously sack him when they should have done - during that terrible losing run at the end of last year. It seems like a long list of consecutive errors from Boardroom level down this season and it's going to take some work to get the club right and the fans back on side.
- Mental fragility of this squad had little to do with AN - it's still in abundance now.
- Ryan Bennett regularly tricks fans into thinking he's an OK defender until he actually has to defend.
It's also interesting how often we concede away from home in particular, when we're actually having our best spell of a match. It happened again yesterday and as a team seem to get sucked in to the counter attack every time, which our midfield does little to combat.

I'd be a bit annoyed if we didn't give James Maddison some football now.
Also Louis Thompson and Ben Godfrey, assuming that they are fit. Lets throw them in for the rest of the season and work out whether they are playing for us next season or out on loan.
Would have been nice to be able to do the same to Carlton Morris and Toffolo

What did Naismith do of note other than work fairly hard in the channel? It's an easier job than the middle of the park.
If you're an opposing fullback I think you're pretty pleased to see Naismith out there.
