In all seriousness, perhaps our biggest problem could be managing expectations off the pitch. A fair few seem to believe that this will be easy, simply because of our good run. If we turn up expecting to win, nerves could kick in from the stands, if things aren't going to plan.

It took me ages to find someone to cover my shift so I could get to the game, I can't bear the thought of anything but a win , then seeing my old manager in his Binners shirt with a big stupid smug grin on his face.

I can't see any player trained and led by AN being anything other than full prepared and focussed. Don't forget, as far as the players are concerned this is just another game. The fact that to us fans it means so much because it is our Derby will not impinge on the players thoughts. I can see a fairly comfortable afternoon at Carrow Road.

McCarthy will do everything he can to spoil the game, lots of niggly fouls,time wasting, everyone behind the ball and lump it up to try and nick a goal. We need a goal in the first 20 minutes.

If it's still 0-0 at half-time, i only hope the home support doesn't get restless!
Whilst Ipswich's footballing style my be questionable, they are currently third in the league, so something must be working for them.

I always hate the run up to playing the scum.
I think people who are expecting it to be comfortable need a reality check. It's a derby, form goes "out the window" and they will be desperate to get a result.
When we beat them 1-0 at their place they looked like a very limited team who didn't really trouble us at all. Who'd have guessed then that they'd be above us at this stage of the season ?
Fortunately AN has got us playing well but also in a very resilient way - we've been good at not letting teams into the game. Against Blackburn when we went 1-0 down there was no panic, we just kept on plugging away and creating chances (even though we weren't playing particularly well in the 2nd half before we scored you still felt we could get something).
Still have a queasy feeling in my stomach though - I never relax up to and during a derby game until we're 3 or 4 goals ahead....

I hate derbies in the build up, purely out of fear of the aftermath if we lose. Luckily we haven't had that for a while

I tend to agree with Frank, I have confidence we are good enough to win however I think we will have to play very well, as we will need to against Derby or Boro. They've dropped a few points relative to us lately but are still in quite good form. We've closed the points gap due to our great form of late rather than them losing their way completely so it follows that we'll need to maintain that level to get the win.
It's great that we've got ourselves in a position where we can get above them but we'll have to work hard to get there. Arguably one of their strengths under McCarthy is their work ethic and consistency and until recently that was our Achilles heel. IF we match them for work rate and our level is consistent to what it has been recently I think we will win. We'll have to be at that level though, they got something at Derby, Bournemouth, Brentford and at Saints in the cup so they'll be a tough but to crack.
OK, that's enough bigging them up, come on you yellows!

Some good sense on here. It'll be a tough game, but as the form team we need to play with full confidence on our own turf and that should see us through. I'll be glad when it's over though and we can move on to play Wigan and Millwall!

We're the better team, we're in better form, we've got a better record against them in modern history, we've got the psychological advantage, and we're at home. Our fans are slightly worried about a possible defeat, and their fans are terrified of another thrashing.
But its still football and it would only take an early Ipswich goal to turn that all on its head.
I suspect we'll see a similar game to the Wolves game (so I hear),scrappy and both teams being careful not to concede in the first half with the game opening up in the second half.
I'll predict 3-0, three late goals after a scrappy and close first 60/70.

I think we will win but I am concerned about bassongs liability to long balls over the top and Ipswich's strength at set pieces, both will be their game plan. Hopefully with the high press we can stop them at source, I'm plumming for 2-1 Norwich.
